***Christmas Request***

The Miracles In Progress Recovery House in Wilmington, NC has 12 men living in it who are in the early stages of recovery from alcoholism and/or addiction.  They do not appear to have family or friends from which to gain healthy holiday wishes.  As we all know, the holidays can be a hard time for all of us, whether we are the alcoholic/addict in early recovery, a family member of one, or were raised by one in childhood.

These men have no idea how big the Miracles In Progress family of recovery is, and I'm asking that you take a few minutes and a 37 cent stamp to show them.  Please consider sending these men a Christmas Card this year.  This is all I am asking you to think about doing to help lift up their Christmas spirits and show them that they are not alone on the road of recovery.  You do not need to reveal any personal information to them about yourself that you don't want to.  All I ask is that you consider signing it "Your brother/sister in Recovery, Another Miracle In Progress"....

Here are their first names and last initials and mailing address;

Keith H.

Mike G.

Ervin M

Robert M.

Charlie H.

Daniel B.

Larry M.

Mike R.

William B.

George R.

Richard R.

Ken H.

Dwayne R.

141 Hinton Ave
Wilmington, NC 28403

Send each individual a card or send one card to them as a group, its your choice, either would be greatly appreciated and put a big smile on their faces this holiday season.  Let's try to work together to bring them a sense of what the recovery family spirit is about.

Your participation in this endeavor is needed, valued and appreciated.

Cheers,

I cant say enough how I love doing this! I just wish I could be there as the cards come in and see the look of "how" on their faces. No matter how young or how old,  rich or poor, with family or alone the spirit of Christmas lives in all of us. About 30 years ago, my good friend left an abusive relationship and set out on her own with 3 small children, relying on government assistance til she could get back on her feet. She literally ahd nothing but hand me downs and no money for Christmas for her children. I took up a collection from those who wished to donate, and mailed her anonymously a money order. She never spoke of it because of her pride I am sure, and to this day I have never told her it was me. Ho Ho! I also volunteer a few hours each Christmas day to feed the homeless, just to see the smile on their faces is payment enough. So this, is another way of reaching out, and I thank you for posting this address,,,,,the card is on its way. Merry Christmas!.....gardengal

(((((((((((John)))))))))))),

Can't wait to send these out.  I still can't find the orginal cards I bought when I put things up so during the flood, so off I go to buy more!  Just what I need to get myself out of this bah-humbug mood I've been feeling as of late.  I think it does us just as much good as it does the men at the recovery house too.   Hubby will send his good wishes too.

Happy Holidays to you and all at the house. Love and blessings too.  Thanks for your hard work and dedication.  We are all blessed by your hard work.

Live strong,

Karilynn, hubby and Pipers Kitty

P.S.  Wish I could be a fly on the wall to see their response.

This very thoughtful! I know so many people out there find the holiday season very difficult. Thanks for posting this. I'll be sure to send some out.

how thoughtful - thanks for suggesting this John.  I wrote my cards last night and it made me feel good inside too!  I hope it does for them as well - they and everyone here on this board are in my prayers for the holidays....may we all see the blessings...
