I thought I'd make this a separate post... I alluded to playing many positions with regard to alcoholism. It's time I qualify myself a bit here. Alcoholics in my life:
1. Father (deceased) 2. Uncle (sober) 3. Mother in law (deceased) 4. Sister in law (status unknown) 5. Another sister in law (on disability for other issues) 6. Daughter (sober) 7. (ex)Son in law (status unknown) 8. My current employer 9. Too many friends (both sober and otherwise) to list 10. Self (sober)
#6 and #9 are the only recurring factors in my life at the present. Even #8 I only actually see once a month or so.
Sanity does sometimes come by default. I could not live under the same roof with _any_ of these people, not even #6 whom I love more than anything. Of course with #10 I have no choice!
It was amazing when I actually took that step back and realized how many alcoholics/addicts were in my life. And it seems that I my HP brings more in on a daily basis. Can't say that is a bad thing either - it definitely is stretching me to continue my work on myself.
I hate that you have been so affected by this disease, but I am very glad that you are a part of MIP. I truly enjoy your input on our post!!
I'm not an A, but I can still relate to having to live with me
See ya,
Rita
