Hello to my real friends whom understand me and they are always there for me...I have had many lonely evenings in the past few weeks which left me very very angry, frustrated and down...i even started having doubts in fellowship as a result of my anger and that I didn't know how to deal with the situation until one of the sweetest members offered me a book called" Getting the sober" I am sure most of you have heard about it and read it before...it really really had a BIG HUGE affect on me and my way of thinking and dealing with different matters related to my A...I still have not finished it but cant stop reading it...having a flu now and I am in bed which helps...just wanted to share this with those never read this amazing book...our HP bless you all...
Yes indeedy, this is a wonderful book. Did you know there are actually 4 volumes? I found them on Amazon. There is also a website by the same name. Powerful learning tools.
I, too, lived with much shame, hurt, pain, confusion, craziness day and day out. But, I love my AH, and want to stay. I can leave anytime I want to, but I am staying for today.
Alanon has truly save me. It can save you too. All you have to do is apply the principles to your everyday problems. And, if you slip up, as we all do, get off your butt and start over. We can do this anytime we want to, start over, that is. In fact, I do it every single morning, and sometimes several times a day....LOL.
Welcome, hope to talk to you more.
Love in Recovery,
Becky1
PS- RE your post about your sis's picture, I would leave it right where it is and let him clean it up, if I had to walk around it for years. But, I have learned to put away some things that are very important to me that I do not want broken or destroyed. We are living with sick people, and sometimes there is no telling what they will do. Take care of yourself. You are important.
Thanks a lot for your message Becky...I liked what you mentioned about starting over...sometimes when I slip up, I feel that I cant start it again but your message showed me that there is nothing wrong with making mistakes and I can still start over...
The picture is still there...none of us touched it yet...please keep me in your prayers...I would love to read the other 3 volume of the book...volme I is amazing...still not done with it as I am taking it slow to understand and remember what I am reading...
So glad you were referred to this book. I have read all volumes, and they saved my sanity! I can't imagine where my life would be today without having read them...
I hope you get as much out of them as so many other people have.
