I'll try to keep this simple....but last night hubby was at his regular place, across the street, drinking with his friend. Around 7pm, he came home, all excited. We have a large field behind our house, and apparently two guys were back there, probably hunting illegally. Anyway, they got stuck, and went across the street to ask my AH and his friend to help them pull their truck out. My AH said he stuck 2 beers in his jacket pocket, and he and his friend, R, jumped in R's truck, and drove over to the field, hooked up to the stuck truck and pulled it out, after much work by R's truck. As they were unhooking the straps they used to pull the truck with, my AH noticed with alarm that there were flames coming out from under R's truck. His engine had caught fire! So, my smart, quick-thinking husband, opened the hood, grabbed a beer out of his pocket, and doused the flame. It went out a little bit, but he had to use the 2nd beer also.
So, to hear my AH tell it, it was meant to be that he have 2 beers in his pocket, in order to put out the fire. Why, it may have just been HP at work! (Here I give a sarcastic look)
Never mind that both he and his friend had been drinking for 4 hours prior to this incident, and were driving on the road to get across over to the field.
You know, I never realized HP can even use alcohol for the good of mankind! Yeah, right! Well, it did save R's truck from burning up. That's as good a use for it as I can see.....I'm surprised they actually sacrified 2 of their beloved beers to save a vehicle.
I am still shocked to hear...."poured his beer on it". Not one, NOT ONE!!!! Of the A's in my life would dare that. Is that sad? Instead, If I were to do that...I would hear..."That is alcohol abuse!!!"
Yeah, andrea, my thoughts too.....if two drunks had not been out trying to pull two other possible drunks out of a muddy field, motor would have probably been fine! I guess his truck starts, and runs now, but the "service engine soon" light stays on all the time, so something is wrong! He's just going to take the lightbulb out of the warning light so it won't bother him. And drive it until it quits, I guess. Hmmmmm
Too bad they don't have a "service your head" warning light available!
Well I guess at least he used the beer to put out the fire, as good a use as any for the devil juice lol. I do have to say that one would visualize the story ending with the 2 drunks looking at the engine on fire....reaching for the beer.....cracking it open...and then standing there watching the truck burn while drinking the beer, lol.
Don't you just love the responses you got to your post? Actually from my experience HP can and will use anything within HP's power and reach to help you gain and maintain your serenity.
You may find out down the road that this was exactly an HP shot. Keep and open mind.
aha Becky , that is cute . and he actually made it make sence - amazing . Ya gotta admit Becky sometimes they are down right cute. hehe He will get a lot of millage out of that little episode . :)
I have to agree with what Andilynn said! I was actually seeing the same scene in my head before I got to her reply. No offense to those involved, but I sorta had this picture of Larry the Cable Guy, Bill and Jeff Foxworthy standing around drinking the beers and lamenting the fact the didnt have anything to put the fire out with!
I will always be bumfuzzled by what an A does. Not surprised (nothing surprises me these days!), but bumfuzzled! I'm with David on this seeing Jeff Foxworthy, etc and what their response would be! Funny my AH and I were watching those clowns and hubby says to me, "Boy I never realized till I got sober, how much they really do drink!." Thanks for the giggle. HP nothing, maybe the "Beer Gods" were trying to get some good PR out of this! Love to you and the kitties!
Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
