What I do for me, sticky Eden

Ok said that is it. I cannot stand looking at the floors anymore. The hall I painted a pretty cranberry that just made a mess. Looked awful. So I got out the hated Glue. Yep the same stuff I sat in and got myself glued to everything.

I was soooo careful. Had to patch a place in the living room. Got it all even ready to put the patch on and YIKES Brown butthead gets BOTH paws in it. I grabbed her and wiped what I could off.

Hey a great way to pick up hair and stuff off the floor? Just dip your puppys paws in glue and believe me they get a lot of it...

So now I tackle the hallway. The stuff is some kind of light tile. Not vinyl. I had just enough. Beeeecuuuuz Macs friend took it out of the van for me, put it on the back deck. I did not know. So Pigdozer,Estersue decided she wanted to lift the table they were on and flip it. So she flew hundreds of them allll over the place, breaking them, chipping edges need I say more?

I had taken this color I had in the house thank goodness. Broke my heart as I got it all for $32 from Habitat....

So I digress as usual. I was so happy getting them down was really ok. I was not stuck to anything yet. amazing.

Well somehow along the way I got some on my hand and did not know. I was now stuck with the tool I used, to my hand. So I continued and used my left hand to grab the tiles and put them down.

Got to the last row and realized I would have to cut some. course cannot find a ruler so I am trying to use a yardstick to measure in a 3 foot wide hallway. Well ok first cut one was perfect, next was ok. Last took me longer to do than the whole dang floor as both my hands are now stuck in fists....

I had to cut it recut it, then sanded it down with my horse hoof file. so now i have pieces of tile stuck on the glue on my hands and the file, the glue tool and my knife are stuck to the floor.

i decided to go outside to get this awful thinner stuff mac told me to use before. Needless to say there is glue on the doorhandle and the vans handles too.

ok got the tools and my hands ok. Then decide to use soap and water to get the turpentine? off my hands and low and behold it also gets the glue off! geez. So washed everything.

Floor looks so much better. i did not fit it close to the wall. I am taking  a piec of the tile in and getting a little can of the same color to paint the edges> I sure don't care. As long as I can clean it I am happy.

Someday carpet will be all on top of it anyway. When I don't have a dog...hahaha so it will be when i am dead i am sure.

I told mac I want to move this house next door and move up to the barn. I tell ya I would if I could.

So all in all it was not bad. Now i am gathering pieces of free vinyl to do the den and bathroom. Just going to cut straight lines and piece it.

It may look goofy, but hey it will just fit in with me and my strange outfits, pet huge farm pigs with chickens on them and horses caked with mud, goats chasing dogs, chicken attacking dogs....uno

hugs love,debilyn

Oh Debilyn,

I am laughing as I type this - We would be a pair if we ever tried to repair a home together.  After Hurricane Rita - my AH & I tried to repair our home before we realized we were going to have to replace everything - I was trying to help paint the living room - I know there was more paint on me than the walls probably even the paint brush rollers.  So I can relate to having the glue all on your hands!!  But hey, we are doing the best we can with what we got - right?

Glad to hear from you & Hope that the dreams have changed to peaceful dreams and not the ones that were upsetting you.

Also praying your day is blessed with beautiful sunshine & great fellowship with the barnyard crew!!

Love & Hugs,

Rita

I know while you were going through that it had to be so irritating, but now (at least for everyone here) the story is too funny!!!!

So glad you are unstuck now!  At least you definitely accomplished something!!

Have a good day.

Dawn

Ty for the visual debilyn! I know what it is like with home repairs and improvements, annoying and frustrating as it is while it is happening we are able to sit and laugh about it later.

(((Deb)))) you crack me up!  You sound like me trying to do home improvements.  I can make a real disaster out of something simple.  But the important thing is, at least we try!

I used to be able to paint quickly and well. I don't anymore.  I don't know why, but it took me almost a month to paint my little kitchen.  I still don't like the way some of it looks around the ceiling where the green paint of the walls meets the stark white ceilings.  Maybe I want it too perfect.  And the walls are over 9 feet high.

I had to laugh about the yardstick used to measure in the hallway.  I usually lose my tools, and just grab whatever I can use at the time.  This exasperates my AH to no end.  LOL.

Now I want to paint the livingroom, and it is giving my AH hives just thinking about it.  I cannot do things neatly, I have to make a bigger mess, then clean everything up afterward!

Love in Recovery,

Becky1

(((Debilyn)))

You are wonderful!!!  Good for you to keep on trudging and get the floor done... funny story with the glue!  So frustrating, but you are doing something and trying to improve your home!  I admire you!  I aim to try to tile also soon, probably when AH is serving his time for this DUI so he won't be there to complain that I'm doing it wrong!

Funny story about glue.  I'm not a very finger or toe painting person, but my cousin had these beautiful well manicured toenails one day.  I told her how pretty they were and she said they were fake!!  You can buy french-manicured toenails and glue them on, and I swear, they really do look nice!  Well, I decided to buy some and ended up gluing my frickin toes together!!!  Glue is dangerous!!! LOLOL!!!

You just keep on going and doing your thing, and it's okay if nothing matches in your house or life.  I love the way things don't match, nothing matches perfectly in life anyhow.  That's what makes it unique and beautiful!!!!

Love, HeidiXXXX
