Hubby Coming home, he could have lost his life

Hi all,

I spoke with hubby on Monday and he asked me to find him a flight home because he was breaking contract and wanted to come home. At the time he told me that it was becasue the company lied to him about the ammount of income he was bringing in.

I couldn't find him a flight home, all the flights leaving Dutch Harbor Alaska are booked until December. I also could not pay for the ticket, we are talking over $1000 to get him a plane ticket. So I handed that part over to HP, I had to there was nothing that I could do.

Anyway, hubby called again right before the end of the meeting tonight and told me he was in port and the company was buying his ticket and he is going to be at the airport soon ina standby position. He also told me about a buddy of his. This guy was on the deck of the boat on top of the crab pots, the wind picked this guy up, bounced him off the crane, onto the deck, bounced off the deck and into the freezing water. Now this guy had on his gear that they wear in case they go into the water. They almost lost him. But they found him and got him on board. This guy has a broken hip, broken, leg, and broken arm, but he has his life.

Well hubby told me that was another reason why he wanted to leave and he told me that he would call me later tonight after they finished off-loading the boat.

Okay, so now it is later. And I got more of the story. Hubby was on deck and didn't have his gear on completely that you are supposed to wear so if you go in the water you don't feeze right away. Hubby slipped and went over board. His friend that he went up with, a good friend of both of ours, is the only reason hubby isn't lost in the water. This guy caught him by the leg and was able to pull him back on board. Hubby said he thought he was going to die, and that all he could think about was me and the kids. He called me that night to say he was coming home. (That was the Monday that he called). He didn't want to tell me as he was not wanting to worry me.

I was a little mad for like a split second, but then my brain went hey you didn't tell him about the lump in your breast, and I still haven't. I have the letter sitting here that I wrote him, and haven't mailed it because he said he was coming home. So, I understood why he didn't want to tell me. I also don't think he home coming has anyting to do with the money now, and he just told me that so I wouldn't be worried about him.

So apparently the plan is for him to be at the airport in Dutch Harbor sometime tomorrow. If there is a somehow a cancelation, then he can get a seat. Please pray that he can find a way home soon. LOL he and I have a lot to tell each other. Funny he and I are a lot a like, not telling eachother stuff to protect the other one. Usually this could be harmful, but I honestly think that this time we had the other's best interest at heart.

And I haven't stopped thanking HP yet for keeping his hand on my hubby, because it is only because of HP that my hubby is coming home.

Ok, now that I got all of that out of me I can hopefully get back to sleep.

Yours in recovery,

Mandy

(((((((((Mandy)))))))))),

I am so glad that hubby is safe! I have watched those shows on Discovery about the World's Most Dangerous Jobs and the crabbing.  Not in a million years would I want my hubby on one of those boats! Every time I buy king crab (not often, way too expensive) I think of what has to be gone through to get it! No wonder it's sooo expensive!

Well you two have a lot of catching up to do.  Here's hoping he gets a flight out soon. Meanwhile, pleasant dreams to you.    Happy Reunion! Now go and relax.

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,

Karilynn & Pipers Kitty

Ah, I feel for you - my husband is also in a dangerous job (though he has moved to desk work in the last few months). During the years when he was drinking and drugging hard, while working with high explosives, I think it was always in the back of my mind, every time I got an unexpected phone call...
Sometimes a scare like this is a good time to take a close look at life, and see what is important, and what isn't. So glad he is coming home so you can give him a real life hug.

Mandy,

What great news!  Our HP sure works in mysterous ways!  I hope you have a wonderful reunion!  I guess a lot of us forget how many dangerous jobs there are out there (I know I did until I saw your reminder).  I'm really glad God had his hand on your hubby and his co-worker!

Best wishes,

ET
