farewell party

Well my Ah is away for one week and instead of spending his last night home with me he was out till 4 am at our local bar.  Up and left without a word.  Will have to work hard on my own program not to sit on the pity pot too long.  Hard not to feel bad since he had been trying so hard to control his drinking after a terrible event 2 months ago.  I did see the decline however so I shouldn't be surprised.  Others have said this before but I now know this to be true. This is a progressive disease.  In the past my husband would never be this hurtful.  I am starting to feel that I have had enough.  Don't really care to go throught the ups and downs of living with a A.  Want freedom from the disappointments.  Feel like screaming ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Sorry you are feeling hurt. Glad you are talking about it with us.

Keep coming back, and use this week as a chance to focus on yourself! Do something nice for yourself.

Yours in Recovery,
David

Hi Elizabeth,

Alcoholism is such a hurtful disease. Do you attend meetings at all? As David suggested, do something nice for you. Maybe go to as many meetings as you can fit in while he is gone to prepare for his return. If you decide to do so the number for Alanon is 1-888-425-2666. They will be glad to help you find meetings in your area.

The hurtful things he does is the disease in action. He's really not drinking AT you. I've yet to meet an alcoholic that feels good about themselves and what they do to feed the disease.

Take good care,
Christy
