Hello all, First off I want to thank those of you that were so wonderful to me in the chat room tonight. You have inspired me to go ahead and ask for the help I know I need. Why is it so hard to ask for help sometimes?
Anyway, I am from Urbana,Illinois and am looking for a support system. I have a 31 year old daughter living with me. She is addicted to heroin and cocaine. She injects both. As you can imagine...as her mom..I am terrified all the time, unless she is in my sight. I know, I can't watch her 24/7, but I really do wish I could. I am so afraid she isn't going to live through this.
I have decided that its time to try to help me. For the past week I have been searching the internet looking for a group that would understand what is happening in my life and tonight I found you. The chat room group suggested I post here and see if there might be people in my area and possibly people I can connect with online for support. I have one other major issue that I have to deal with at this time. I have a benign brain tumor. Thank God it isnt cancer! This tumor is a re-occurance. I had brain surgery one year ago August 2nd to remove this tumor and as luck would have it....it has decided to re-grow. I have to have surgery again. I see my surgical team in Springfield,Il on Dec.4th to decide when that surgery will be. I have a little time because it is slow growing but, I think I have decided to go ahead with surgery in January. I feel like I am on the negative side of this thing until this is over.....once its done I can begin recovery again and start back with the business of living my life.
Again, thank you to those that were so kind and supportive in chat. Hopefully this will be a major turning point in my life. I will keep coming back!!

Hi im Lauren. I am glad the tumor is benign. i can only imagine what you are feeling at this time. I will try my best to help you out in any way I can. I HOPE YOU DO REALIZE(sorry caps) that your daughter's addiction was not your fault. You are totally powerless. You did not cause it you cannot control and you cannot cure it. I will pray for you.
LAUREN
