workbook

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me if there is a workbook I can buy that will help me with the steps? I have to go back to step one, and am having problems with "my life becoming unmanagable". I understand I probably am experience a block called denial, but as far as I can see at the moment, I have pretty much kept it all together, job, home etc.

Emotionally, of course I'm unmanagable, as well as other stuff!!

Thanks
AM

I have a workbook called "Blueprint for Progress"  it is for the fourth step. It is pretty well detailed and I take it a little bit at a time.  It doesn't handle any other step but that one, but it is good.

Also I believe there are some questions in the book--Paths to Recovery--Al-anon Traditions and Concepts book.  I really like this book as well.

Hope this helps.

Hi Annemarie,

It's not a workbook perse (there's no space provided to write in the book itself), but Paths To Recovery is an excellent guide to the Steps, Traditions, and Concepts. It includes an explaination of each step, etc. + members ESH on each step, etc. Each step, tradition, concept, ends with a long series of reflection questions that you can use to work each step, tradition, and concept. I LOVE this book--it's by far my favorite Al-Anon book, and I highly recommend it.

As for unmaneagebility--I, too, feel like most of the unmangeablity of my life was emotional--that's what got me to start Al-Anon, and quite frankly, that seems like enough LOL.

Good luck on your journey!

Cheers,

BlueCloud

I'm thrilled to hear you're working the steps. I hope you're also working with a sponsor. Sponsorship can help you to grow through the steps as you work the steps.

As the others have recommended, I throughly endorse PATHS TO RECOVERY. The questions are through and great for journaling.

PS, If you're following my current saga, I went to a meeting in Sunday evening and learned to respond and not react. I've been trying really hard.

In the past four days he's asked me what is wrong a few times, and this morning he said he found me to be unresponsive (I guess he really means not reactive!) these days! I've been polite all the time, just didn't start very many conversations with him.

I'm learning that this not reacting really works, and it's only a few days as yet. I'm not sure he can handle it but as we all know that's for him to decide!
