The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
I had a real "aha" moment this weekend, listening to a recovering A. He did 28 days of inpatient rehab, left the facility, hit the first bar he could find, and ended up in the emergency room the following day after his release with an above 4.0 alc level..it's a miracle he survived.
He's now over a year sober. And grateful.
I've known (in my HEAD) that my daughter's addiction is out of my hands for some time now. But this conversation really made me relieze (in my HEART) that I am NOT able to control it. It's just too big and too ugly...
I didn't cause it, I can't control it, I can't cure it.
Welcome to the MIP family. I am glad that you came to realize the 3Cs. It's a hard lesson to learn, but once learned it can be empowering. I find that talking to recovering As has been very enlightening for me. I regularly attend AA meetings with hubby now. It gives me a perspective that I didn't have before. But I make sure to balance the AA meetings with my Alanon meetings. Glad you found us. Please keep coming back to us.
Love and blessings to you and your family.
Live strong,
Karilynn

Welcome to the MIP Family - so glad that you joined our family, but hate to hear that this awful disease has affected you and your daughter.
I, too have a daughter affected by this disease. You can read my post "Safe Places" from last Friday to understand our story about our daughter. I just have to take it One Day at a Time.
Hope that you will continue to post & stay in touch,
Rita
