((((((((Barb)))))))))),

I don't take classes, but I have done both. Plus I work for a Sporting Goods store and the exercise dept. was mine for 4 years. I prefer the pilates. But yoga can be more meditative. Both are an excellent way of centering your mind and body. Have fun! You might want to see if a friend has either a video or dvd and try it out at home first to see if you like them. I always feel goofy when I take a class!

Hi Barb :)

I had done yoga and pilates before. I like taking the classes b/c I can't seem to do it the right way with the tapes, I also like the support of the teacher and am more motivated by a group. I'm glad u brought this up, b/c I'd really like to get back into it again. It helped me feel more balanced as well as getting a good workout. It's good for mind body and soul. I especially liked the mediation part at the end where I'd just lie there on my mat and open up to my hp.

Good luck, Christine

I love yoga! I do it almost every day. I've taken classes on and off over the years but enjoy doing it at home - even if it's only for a few minutes each day. I find it to be such a great stress reliever. My kids do it with me which is fun for all of us.

Classes can be a fun way to learn different poses and connect with the various of types out there. I recently did a bikram class. It's yoga done in a room that is heated to 105 degrees. It was a challenging but worthwhile experience.

You can also pick up a copy of The Yoga Journal. It has great articles and usually has a section of how to do different postures.

Good Luck!
