My AH left yesterday to start his new job in Georgia- He left around 6 pm and it is about 1200 miles from here-He drove late into the nite,slept in the truck to save $ on a hotel and arrived around 3 pm today. I have talked with him all day off and on, was having a crappy day anyway my work and just stuff, well at 3 he said he was going to sleep and he'd call later- He called around 7 the moment i heard his voice i knew he was drunk- He denied it for about 15 min finally admitted yeah he'd been drinkin ONLY 3 beers though!!
GIVE ME A BREAK- man i want to scream- I am just so fed up with this. I am feeling worn out. We are going to try to move just as soon as we sell our house but now what to do- I am so freakin mad i don't even know what to type-PLEASE EVERYONE PRAY FOR MY HUSBAND_ WESLEY DON Tonite when you lay down your head PLEASE ask HP to help him find AA- PLEASE- I need this more than words,i definitly believe in the power of prayer-PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM AND MY GIRLS_ THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!
So sorry this had to happen when you were hoping for a fresh start, but that's what Alcoholics do, they drink. No point in banging your head against that wall, you can't do much about him but there is a lot you can do about you.
He may be drinking but he's not there right now, so cuddle up to your kids and watch a movie or go for a walk. Take a bubble bath, put on some music you like - do something nice for yourself. There is not one single thing you can do about what he is doing tonight, so you can let it go. It's not your problem, get a good night's sleep. Maybe a carton of ice cream in bed - why not?
I am sorry for your disappointment in your husband. Believe me, it has happened to me more times than I can count. Now, I don't get my hopes up anymore. I figure he will be drunk. Lately he hasn't been. But, I know if he is untreated that is always a possibility. He won't seek treatment.
I am praying for your husband to get the help he needs, but also praying for you, to be strong for your kids, to let the anger go, to let the expectation go. Come back often here, you can learn a lot. I am just finally letting some things sink in and the tools do work that you learn here. The anger is not so great anymore. The hurt is not so deep anymore.
The reality is, alcoholics drink and get drunk. They hurt people and feel guilty and let themselves down most of all. It is a disease. A book that may really help you is "Getting Them Sober" by Toby Rice Drew or Drew Rice? It is a great book and you can buy it used on the internet. I read it a lot, along with Alanon literature.
Please take care of yourself. You deserve to have a beautiful life and enjoy every moment of it without worrying so much. And believe me, you are not alone in feeling the craziness of living with this disease. It affects everyone in the family.
feeling a little better- He of course called this morning and he will never do it agian- I know those chances are slim- I am going to a face to face tonite at 730-They even have BBS- I know this will help me-Thanks to everyone who has been there and prayed for my girls- THIS BOARD IS HEAVEN SENT- Finally we are not alone- You all have so much wisdom and life experience- I only hope i can learn so much more!!!!
I know that old "I only had 3 beers" crap too! Mine says "I only stopped for one". Right; he can't walk into a bar without getting drunk. I will pray for your girls, you and your A.
