I took Christy's challenge of having a great day. Focus on myself. Be all I can be. I did my long run around the lake in the morn. The geese and ducks are definitely on the move south. I went to my office to catch up and be ready for Monday. I spent 7 hours there. I pushed myself to attack those tasks that I avoided because I was a little scared of them (read: shooting for perfection, afraid of what people will think, etc.). I figured that if I put the time in this weekend, then the week will go better and I can take next weekend off. When I came home, my neighbor had a few friends helping clear the garden of veggies. There is a frost predicted tonight. The bounty of veggies and the good mood of the helpers was so nice. And now the ultimate challenge. I put my tent up outside to try out my zero degree sleeping bag. This is just to prove to myself that I can do it. Well, my AHsober did creep into my thoughts. I told myself that I should only listen to my HP not him. It is ironic; everytime I have tried to post a "take his inventory" post about how rotten my AHsober is, the wireless cuts out. So it is not meant to be. I will have to end today with a positive post. I had a great day.
I spent the day sanding two flights of stairs. I've had a project going on for the last two weeks. I laid laminate floor in my dining room and my hallway. Now I have to deal with the steps. Everything previously had carpet on it so there was and is a bunch of nail and staple pulling. I also had to bleach the steps about 3 times in between sanding. Lots of work but I enjoy it.
I got the steps sanded and did a test with the polyurethane and it was too dark. Hmmmm...what to do? I went and talked to a guy at Sherwin Williams and he helped me solve the problem. The worst part was having to stop what I was doing and go find some answers.
In between all that I'm sanding and putting polyurethane on chair rail moulding. This has been a real learning experience..lol I can now add using an electric miter saw and a circular saw to my list of things I can do.
It's been trial and error and at times pretty frustrating but I'm taking my own challenge and acting "as if" I know what I'm doing..lol I didn't even know what "stairnose" was before I started.
I have to admit that I sounded like a sailor a few times but then laughed about it. Especially when I had to cut the door casings (at the bottom, not easy) in the hall and also cut the laminate to fit under it, then try to snap the laminate together.
My daughter has been helping me with all this and we've had some good laughs. We're pretty darn proud of ourselves so far. Here's a before , after we ripped up carpet and padding. That's Louie on the rolled up padding, he's had to have his lil nose in everything. Whatta mess this place was for a few days!!
And here's an after. I did do a dumb thing by putting my table and chairs back in the room because now I'm sanding and getting it all yucky. Oh well...
So...through all this I'm managing to not get too flustered and am managing to remember my own challenge..only I challenge myself everyday to "don't worry, be happy". What I'm finding out is I don't have to remind myself so often to stay happy and start my day over, I just do it. I wouldn't even want to think of how I would have reacted previously to some of the problems I've been up against with this project. There probably would have been a circular saw flying through a window..lol. Love y'as Christy
P.S. How'd everyone else do? Report in :)

Sounds like you had a great day! Good for you. I'm jealous that you're some place where they are calling for frost. Can't wait for the fall here! Still need to finish decorating though. A run or a walk around a lake sounds great. What a way to start the day. Winter camping is so much fun. You go girl! Here's to you!
Live strong,

Nancy, I love what you did with your day. Well, I'm sure you love it more than I do, lol. Good job with taking stock of what makes you feel better.
I too have an untried tent, hmmmmm, won't need to worry about freezing here in fl though. One day you might inspire me to set it up and see how it works though :)
You could put the nail in the ceiling and hook it to fishline around the rod and pull it up. no one will notice. haha.
I assume you want to put up a bracket? If it's dry wall/plaster don't use a nail. Use screws and those plastic whats-it anchor thingies you hammer in to the wall before the screw to hold it in (drill a hole first). The nail would fall out from the wt. of the rod.

Hi Christy, hee hee, I like the fishline approach :)
ummm...the rod isn't that heavy...it just holds sheers....and i bent the darn thing a couple months ago when i ripped out a broken blind behind it and in the process whacked the rod.
are you going to advise me to just go buy a new rod? :)
yeah, i know about screws and fasteners, just looking for the quick and easy way out. if i get hub involved it will be an all day fussy project.
