We went to my brother’s wedding last weekend. My new sister in law’s stepmother was the pariah of the whole group – so controlling, didn’t “let” her ancient husband do what he wanted, etc. You guessed it – her husband is a very active alcoholic and she’s his keeper. I thank this program and you all for helping me avoid such a future. I’m happy and will work like the dickens to stay happy regardless of someone else’s behavior. --Jill
i think it is excellent that we can learn from others mistakes. good job working your program and reminding me to work mine and be happy! this is it, not a rehersal! luck and love
I have been one of those keepers and let me tell you it is no life.I didn't even see it until I started following the alanon program, coming to meetings, reading.
Yep, been a keeper for 36 years. My own fault,AH got sober 16 years ago I could have stayed with alanon then and saved myself some misery.Your sil's stepmother is not a happy person,I know because I have been there.
It's so much nicer not to control everything. To not HAVE to control everything.Gives me more time to find out what I enjoy and do it.I'm happier and it shows.
