I was scheduled to attend a conference in Las Vegas last week. My burdens were heavy so I figured that I needed to do something different to get different results. The Grand Canyon is close to my home (as opposed to most visitors). I took the long way around and went through the Grand Canyon. I camped out in the forest and took a long hike the next day. It is hard to stay focused on your problems when you are at the canyon's edge. Awesome! I felt so fortunate to have the resources to get myself there. I am thankful for my challenges and I know through recovery, that there is something better for me.
I am so jealous of you! The Grand Canyon is beyond comprehension. I truly had the best night sleep when I was there. It is awe inspiring. I want to go back! Glad you had a good time.
Live strong,
Karilynn

One of my favorite slogans is, "You can't think yourself in to right action, you have to act yourself into right thinking".
I've found getting out of the house, and into the outdoors a perfect way to get out of my head and to really appreciate all the beauty of the world. And, when I see that beauty my perceptions of what's possible expand and I start to get better.
Very cool Nancy... the Grand Canyon is one of the (two) natural sights that has honestly "taken my breath away" (the other one is at Long Beach, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, watching the storms and waves roll in)....... I'm going to Vegas in September, and a big part of our trip is a day-trip to go see the Grand Canyon!! Can't wait!!!

Good good good for you! I have found this year to get away to our mountains in Colorado has done me worlds of good. Isn't it great to be a tourist in your own area? What a change of pace and makes you look at your environment with a new attitude...
For several years I lived in Kanab, Utah, which is about 70 miles from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We would ride over and have lunch once in a while. Then we suddenly got the idea to raft through the Colorado, which we did in 2002. It was a 6-day trip that really put us in touch with nature. No formal "facilities"; we had to cook dinner on the camp stove; rode the rapids; did it all. It was the trip of a lifetime, and I have always wanted to do it again. Looking up from the canyon floor as opposed to down to the floor from the rim gives a whole different perspective. And the Colorado runs a mile beneath the rim. True meaning of the overused word, "awsome." Diva
