I want to thank all of you who prayed for my old horse, Prince Sunday night & the wee hours of Monday morning! A special thanks to Tony & Andilyn who kept me company in my time of need. I will be forever grateful for this room & it's alanon members who show their love & kindness through the miracle of modern technology!
My vet came out Monday morning like she said. Prince looked like he would not make it. He was so dehydrated, his body temp had dropped, his heart, she said had weakened. He had not eaten his grain since Wednesday. Sunday he was so weak he could barely eat, he tried to graze on grass in the backyard, but he wasn't able to eat it, he would lie there on his side.legs straight out, head down with grass sticking out of his mouth!!!! He didn't drink, didn't urinate.
So, she was going to come back Monday early evening for the final shot, I called the man who runs an excavating service about 1/2 mile from me. They have horses & dogs, so they know what it's like. He came over & was actually digging the horses grave! Meantime Prince was walking around, grazing, really eating! Then I was him lick the salt block & actually drink water!! He was able to urinate! Which was a good sign!! His body was getting fluids!!!!! He did not lie down at all Monday!!!
I put a call into the vet & told her how he was acting! She came out & we agreed, let him live! I think the old horse has a strong will! Either that or he saw his grave & heard whispers of his demise & figured, hey I better start drinking!!!
This morning, he was waiting @ the gate with Mitzie (my mare) he actually showed interest in feeding time! He made his little grumble, to say, "feed us mom!!!" He ate most of his grain.!! I am giving him an iron/mineral supplement & yogurt like the vet recommended!
I did not sleep a wink all night Sunday, I prayed for my little guy! Those of you who were with me during this ordeal, thank you soooooooooo much for your prayers!!! They were answered! I have a huge hole in the back of my property! But, this is a one day at a time process!!!
Woohoo! I'm so glad for you and Prince! Give that sweet horse some extra carrots for me. He's not ready to leave this earth. He still has much time left here to enjoy and bring you joy. I do believe that miracles can happen, we only have to have a bit of faith. Sometimes it wains, but deep in our hearts, it's still there.
Love and blessings to you and all your animals.
Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty

(((Horse and Prince))))) I didn't know Prince was ill, but am so, so very glad he is better. It has been years since I have lost a pet, but it is terribly hard.
Am so glad for you. Prayers are answered, not always in the way we would like, but it seems like this time was right on the money, honey!

PS-Give Prince an apple from me and the kitties (Sophie and Sidney)
I am so glad to hear Prince is doing well. See we knew he was probably just dehydrated from the heat....just glad we were right! Hope he continues to make progress.
