Before Al-Anon, I used to think things happened by chance, accident or coincidence - not so much anymore - Let me explain . . .
About 5 yrs before getting into Al-Anon, my younger brother who is very active in AA, gave me an Al-Anon speaker tape. The speaker was a lady from California. I listened to the tape and gave it back to him. I was not impressed at all. My comment was "I don't need to listen to her, I'm living that horrible life" He asked "But did you hear about how it helped her". I replied, "No" - I had not listened to the second side of the tape!! (lol - I can laugh about it now - knowing it just wasn't my time) I never heard about life after she went to Al-Anon.
Anyway, on Sept 3, I'll have been in Al-Anon for 3 yrs. My brother has tried, unsuccessfully, to find another copy of that speaker tape for me. We have laughed about it - It has been very much a part of my story that I have shared as I have been a speaker in meetings.
My HP doesn't stop there - I am leaving this afternoon with a bunch from my home group to go to a State Convention in Lafayette, LA, which is about an hour from my home. Guess who is one of the speakers for tomorrow - You got it - The same lady from California!!! - Ain't it Awesome - I am so hoping that I get to share the story with her!! - I can't wait to hear what I missed so many years ago.
I know that we always hear what we are suppose to, when we are suppose to, but the fact that even when we miss it, our HP's still give us another chance makes me humbled and grateful.
Just wanted to share that great story with everyone - even when things seem so overwhelming for us, a Power Greater than me can give me exactly what I need . . .
Don't worry if you missed it the first time, have faith - you will get to hear it again,
Sending out blessings of hope your way,
Rita

Great story! "Selective hearing" and "stubborness" are genetic traits in my family. Sometimes it can be helpful, but most of the time it can be my downfall.
Have a wonderful trip. I hope you get to listen to the second side of the tape. Give her a standing ovation after she speaks.
Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
