A PM with (((bump))) the other day inspired me to think back of the miracles in my life, so I want to share as I truly believe they can't be coincedense.
Starting with finding Alanon, and at the same time connecting with a cousin that I am very close to. The miracle: Alanon cut the path of change and my cousin showed me the way.
Next, the circumstances of my husband getting sober. Who'd have thought I could be grateful for him getting severe bronchitis? lol But I sure am. The miracle: It led him to the hospital and detox after 25 yrs of drinking daily..
His detox almost killed him more then once, he was so sick. The miracle: It caused him to be grateful to be alive and changed his outlook on what is important in life. Mine too.
He was able to tell his dying Mother that he was sober and was going to stay that way. The miracle: She was elated after years of worry. She died 2 days later. He had given her an awesome gift...
He was able to get on temp disability for 3 mo., due to Dr. error it didn't last any longer. We had no income. The miracle: His siblings got together in MI and voted to give us part of the $$ marked for inheritance, even though the estate is not settled and is not ready to be divided. That money got us through a few more months.
When that money was getting low, my A got laid off. He wasn't well enough to work but being laid off meant that when he was well enough, he wasn't going back to his job. The miracle: He got a lay off bonus that would get us through a few more months.
Hubby (after 5 mo) felt he was ready to back to work. He had contacted a few people that he knew and was waiting to hear back from them. The miracle: A longtime friend and co-worker of his called from Alaska and asked him to come there and work for a few mo. What an awesome opportunity and a beautiful place to work sober from and begin again!! The plans are that son and I will visit there too next month.
I don't know whose miracles these are, pretty much OURS I guess. My own feeling is that HP is showing A that there is a life and goodness outside of alcohol and he is showing me that I should always expect a miracle from him. I should trust that HP will see us through. There is no doubt in my mind, when I do trust...It happens. The miracle: Changed lives, changed attitudes
There are many, many smaller miracles in my life, too many to mention. I do notice them, however small, and they make me smile as I offer up a small "thanks" to HP..

Thanks for sharing that. Everyone here is such a help to me, and I so appreciate each one of you. As my phisical family shrinks day by day, this online family just keeps growing. That's my blessing today. Thanks for helping me see it.
Take care of you!

Thanks, Christy. I was down in the dumps until I read your post. I had just posted, because I slipped, and am so angry and hurting again. Your post made me realize, in the scheme of things, what I am going thru is very small. And there is hope.
Thanks so much for your beautiful post. So much has changed for you since we first met here online. I am so happy for you and give so much hope to others.
Thank you for sharing your miracles with us. Sometimes when I get down and wonder if he will ever get sober/clean I hear of anothers miracle and I am given hope. And having hope after 9 years (which doesn't seem like much compared to 25) is a miracle itself.
Yours in recovery,
Dolphin123

I am so glad you shared your ES&H with us. Truly it is a miracle, and good things do come to good deserving people. You have helped me more than you know, with our chats, your postings. And I beleive that by sharing this you have given more hope to people than you know. Sometimes hearing anothers problems, can make you look at your own and not feel so bad about them. Glad you are here and have fun in Alaska, one place I have always wanted to go. I hear the mosquito's are huge...take lots of bug spray! And enjoy!
What a wonderful, inspiring post dear friend. It does this old heart good. We do indeed have a lot to be grateful for. Miracles do happen. I am learning day by day to trust HP more and more. I do often wonder why miracles happen for some and not for others. HP must have a plan and will reveal it when we are ready.
Enjoy your trip to Alaska. Can ya fit me in your suitcase? Love and blessings to you and your family. Love ya!
Live strong,
Karilynn, Hubby & Pipers Kitty
