Last night at my alanon meeting on zoom, we looked at p. 139. It talks about lifes ups and downs and that it is impossible to have peace or smooth sailing all the time. But it suggests that adversity can have value, and help us to change. The Chinese word for crisis is written with two characters: danger/opportunity. We are reminded to look for the good hidden in all encounters.
Yes of course I wish I could control everything, but on a good day, I can control myself. And some curve balls thrown to me are so painful, for example, my younger brother is battling cancer. I guess the upside is that he and I have gotten so much closer. Im astounded by what he is going through and hasnt given up. I will try to remember to look for lemonade from lemons.
