I learned a great tip at Yoga last week to calm yourself and stop your mind from ticking over and letting those nagative thoughts take over.
Did you know that when your tongue is against the roof of your mouth it triggers your brain to become more active, thus think more.
I instantly feel more calm when I make a concerted effort to breath through my mouth as this means my tongue lays flat against the bottom of my mouth rather than touching the roof! Try it when you're falling asleep or wake from a bad dream (usually about my ex these days!)...
That's a useful idea - actually many of the things you learn in yoga can help you. When you are doing - is it called mindful breathing? When you concentrate on the progress of each breath, in through the nostrils and out through the mouth, emptying the lungs, pushing with the diaphram.... I defy anybody to stress out on something when doing all that!
That's interesting ~ I have mild OCD & my tongue pushes firm & undulates against the top of my mouth constantly... will have to give this much focused & concentrated effort to stop & press it flat down in my mouth!!!
Thanks, -kitty of light
