Update on being a grownup and thanks for being here

I called a friend who is very grownup (the responsible kind of ACoA) and he bought me a new fridge at Best Buy (open box-total $400!) and I am going to pay it back in installments. He came over before we went and cleaned the dog poop for me while I got ready for work (and scolded her for me-I cant do it very well, it breaks my heart-it was AH's forte)

My landlord said the lisence is just a formality for his records, no rent raise.

Two problems down, and slowly, I guess I will tackle all of it...but not alone.

I dont know how but posting here helps soooooooo much. Its like I feel this release the minute I write and I get so excited to see all your posts. Everyone is so wise and caring and I really dont feel so alone anymore. It gives me courage and I dont panic as much as I did a few weeks ago about stuff. I am so grateful for all of you.

Hi Sarah

I am glad that you got a new fridge.

You can do the grownup stuff, I know it.

I had alot of trouble figuring out my money and bills when I left my AH 1 year ago. He had always controlled the money and the bills.

What I did was apply and receive alot of credit cards. I lived on them while I figured out my finances.

I could not see another way to finance my exit, asking my family for help would have been another way and one I did not consider while in crisis.

Take on one thing at a time, small goals you can meet. The mail is not your enemy. You can open the bills. What I learned to do? Open the bill and see when it is due.

Then put it back in its enevlope and put the date it is due on the envelope.

Then once a week I pay the bills that will be due the next week. Simple system but it works for me.

Keep reaching out.

Megan

sarahlm,

We are definitely not alone in Alanon. As I said in my other post I struggle too. Asking for help has been very hard for me. But everyone has come to my aid - strangers and friends. I love posting here and hearing the responses. Such wisdom and comfort. I learn sooo much even in everyone's pain.

In support,

Nancy

Good for you for getting started on solving the problems.  Take care of the small stuff & get it out of the way.  Then tackle the bigger stuff.  You can do it.  We are here for you. :)
