Finally

Well, after being missing for 3 months, my brother has finally shown up back at my mom's. He is extremely unhealthy. He's been doing crack, meth, using needles. He's about as close to death as you can possibly be without actually being dead. He is so skinny and probably only weighs about 80 lbs. Right now we are just letting him rest and eat. There's no point in even mentioning rehab because he can hardly even understand what we are saying to him. He really should be in a hospital, but refuses to go. For now, I guess as long as he's resting and eating that's the best we can do to try to get him back to a state where he can think a little more clearly. I really hope that this time will be different, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I know from experiences in the past that he could be gone again within a week. I've just never seen him in this bad of shape before. I really hope he has hit his "bottom." Your prayers for his recovery and any advice about what to do next would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

Dear Jayda -

I am so sorry you are all going through these tough times.  I cannot imagine what you have been through for the last 3 months while your brother was missing.  And then to see him return in such horrible health.  My AH went missing for a week and I thought I'd go crazy wondering where he was & what he was doing.  He spent one solid week binging on crack until he ended up in the emergency room b/c he thought he had a toothpick stuck in his throat.  He looked so much worse after just one week......if it had been 3 months, I may not have recognized him.

I will pray for you and for your brother and family.  I will pray that he gets some strength back and wits about him back so you can start talking to him about healing and rehab.  Good luck to you all.
