YEAH!!

Some of you know I have been dealing with finals, accepting my husband is an A, his forced separation, etc. I have been so scared and shocked at the rug being pulled out from under me. 3 months ago I never would have thought me and my husband would be getting a separation. I was in it for the long haul and thought he was too. I guess many A's don't know what that means even if they say it.

Well, today I see a little glimmer -- I found an apartment!!! My AH has agreed to help me out a bit financially though things will certainly be tough for a while. I chose this career path because I had the luxury of his large salary. I knew that it would take 4 years to really make any money, but I had that security. Now I am going to have to find another way to supplement my income, but at least I will have serenity.

I feel good about myself for finishing finals and finding an apartment when I am so depressed and also for standing up to my A and saying, "I can't live with your drinking anymore." I wish the result had been that he agreed to get help and not have pushed me away, but maybe my HP wants me to grow and go down a new path. I am working on having the faith that everything will work out for the best and there is a reason for this.

I can already feel myself detaching and craving my own space filled with serenity and peace. I no longer fear living alone.

I am trying to just take on one task at a time like everyone here suggested. The next thing is the move and after that my portfolio and then a job. I know with everyone's support I will make it.

Hello, Sunny,
One day at a time! What an inspiring post. I'm very glad you are here.
Going to face to face meetings, finding a sponsor and working the 12 steps are all very important in Alanon. they changed my way of life. I know they will help you through the tough times.
Thanks for being here.
Blessings,
mebjk

Sunny,

I just want to let you know that I have been alone for almost a year. My sober AH moved out and basically amputated our relationship. I thought we were in it together for the duration but now that I look back there was a pattern. When I was studying for my comps years ago, he said that he was out of here. Either he did it because I was busy or he was oblivious that I was busy. Anyway, you are not really alone. Your HP is always with you - I have to work to open that pathway. Ask for help in everything but get excited about those things that you can do yourself. In Alanon they tell us to focus on ourselves. Sounds like you are on the right path.

In support,

Nancy

Wow, what a difference a week makes.  Please go back and read your post last week, and then this one, you will see the power of the program... perhaps you will see more glimmers.

Thank you for sharing and reminding me that "It works if you work it"  Great job taking care of you and having Faith, you are an inspiration.

Lynn

Hi Sunny

CONGRATULATIONS on the apartment!
May it become your serene quiet place where you recover from living with active alcoholism.

You are moving forward with your life, good job.

One thing I did after I lefy my husband 1 year ago was to apply for and get several credit cards. I lived on them while I furnished the apt and hired a lawyer. That is just how I did it.

Good luck with your move and getting your portfolio in order, you can do it!
In support

Megan
