back to MIP, back to work

hello MIP family,

I just checked, I have been on here last time in 2014....wow, what a journey it has been. Gratitude all the way for MIP and Al Anon, as it saved my life many times, and made me walk in the good direction. Life has been good...mostly, as I carry the lessons on a daily basis and keep sharing, just not online, so  i didn't even remember my old password, and come on as New...my old posts are still on and it has been interesting to revisit.

I'm in a very different place now than I was then, physically and mentally.

I have a loving family now, a partner who doesn't have any addiction, that is working on himself and we have our kids now to live and love for.

Family of origin is still somewhat in the alcohol turmoil from time to time, but I got the tools to keep me safe.

Last week though a A-friend died through suicide, although I say A took his life far earlier than he himself. This brought me back on here, as I learn from soo many people on here always. Suicide is scary and sad, we as a community are devastated. He suffered and drowned in his own low confidence. A was there for him til the end, rather than his loved ones. It still hits me when I see and recognise the power of A and we it does to really beautiful souls.

So back to work. Glad to come here. Hope you are all well.

Greetings Tortuga and welcome back. Unfortunately MIP seems to be shutting down. There is a financial difficulty that should cause MIP to completely end. Because of that most people stopped posting. I'm still checking in daily. Wolfie made a stop in last week. I can hear how much alanon has helped you--me too! It's a fantastic program and MIP gave me my start 12 years ago. I'm very sad to see it go. Keep on keeping on. :)

Welcome back Tortuga. Wonderful to read how Al-anon continues to be a positive influence in your life. Sorry to read your A-friend has died. Agree that this is a devastating disease. It can be so difficult to watch is progression as a family member and be powerless over it. Yes, "beautiful souls." Grateful that Al-anon teaches us compassion over judgement and to see the person under the disease of alcoholism. "There for the grace of God go I." ((hugs)))
