The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This writer comments on Step 4: what they thought were virtues (worrying about other people, sacrificing their own happiness, etc.), turned out to be the cause of their misery. And the traits they ignored (talent, self-discipline, etc.), turned out to be truly positive qualities. Through woking Step 4, they found a way to turn their upside-down personality right-side up. When they can see themself clearly, they can feel whole, pride, and peace.

I certainly relate to this reading because I lived my life in an upside-down manner. The things I thought about and focused on really made me miserable, and I ignored my good traits until my first sponsor made me look at myself realistically. What a blessing to be able to take the focus off of others, and see myself with both flaws and assets. God bless Betty! (I bet she is helping people up in heaven.)
Lovely reading and ESH today Lyne, thank you so much for your service and
Happy Monday to you and the MIP Family!!
I am still working on this "upside down" stuff, but I'm getting there. There
is so much more serenity and the Al-Anon/MIP wisdom I have been able to
see and learn have completely contributed to that serenity and growth.
Grateful member.
