Hope for Today Oct 9

Good morning everyone:

Todays reading is about the situations we may find ourselves in when we have the opportunity to deal with unresolved issues from our past. The writer describes facing people from childhood, or situations that felt like flashbacks to an alcoholic childhood home, (before coming to alanon) and reacting as the same frightened little girl she was many years before. She would panic, run, and shut down.  This would maintain a cycle of suffering and the behavior became predictable. After coming to alanon and working the steps and principles, the writer stopped running from situations like these, and instead faced them. She began dealing with situations like these with intellect rather than reacting with emotions only.

This reading helped me remember when I went from thinking why this again??  to okay, I recognize this, and heres how I can deal with it. Once I started to realize I could steer the direction, not be subjected to traumatic events and situations from the past, they tend to happen less frequently. As the reading states: When Im willing to let my Higher Power help me face my problems today in a healthier manner than I did in the past, Im not as likely to recreate them.

The Thought for the Day: If I dont take the time to recover from the past, Im bound to repeat it.

I hope everyone enjoys a peaceful Sunday:)

Mary

Thank you Mary and Happy Sunday to you and the MIP Family today!!

I can definitely attest to the benefits of Al-Anon when it comes to panic/anxiety experienced when I feel

those uncomfortable/chaotic situations start to rear their ugly heads smile.  I do feel much more in control

of myself and therefore there is much less stress.  So grateful for Al-Anon and MIP.

Thank you Mary for your service, and Deb for your share.

"If I don't take the time to recover from the past, I'm bound to repeat it."

I believe that is what Al-Anon helped me do. Make time for myself (I never did before) so that I could begin to heal & not repeat my mistakes.

I still am needing this sentence today.

Grateful

&
