My sweet little Mom, who will be 86 this Nov. has been having problems coughing a lot for a while now. Thought it was allergies. Went to Dr. for coughing, they took x-rays, now want her to come back in tomorrow (Mon.) to talk about them.
I am scared to death. I live in Ohio and my Mom lives in Ks. My younger sister lives close to her, but she always thinks Mom will be the same ol' dependable Mom, nothing ever got her down for long. I am scared to death. My mom and I had our troubles in my early 20's due to my lifestyle, etc. She had already lived thru the alcoholism of my dad, who she divorced when I was 7, and raised us 4 girls alone. My dad died when I was 16 due to alcoholism. She never dated after they split, said he was the only man she'd ever loved. Never had anything bad to say about him, except she didn't want to raise us kids around it.
My Mom has always been my strongest supporter, my rock. Now, she's getting older, and it's so sad. She's still in great shape physically, takes no medication except for allergy pills, and tylenol for arthritis. She smoked when I was little, but has been quit for many, many years. Never had any serious health problems.
Please pray for my Mom. She has my 3 sisters and I, 4 grandchildren, and a 2 year old great grandson who need her. I pray God will keep her with us just a while longer. Am trying to let go and let God, but sure is hard when it is my Mom!
Your mom sounds like one incredible lady and it's easy to see that she raised you well. You, your mom, and your entire family are in my prayers. Please keep us posted and know we're with you in spirit.
((((((Becky))))) you got em, prayers for mom and for you. I agree, its hard finding acceptance of things when it involves close loved ones. I lost my father much too soon, lost grandma much too soon, I see mom beginning to have health problems... its never easy to see people who have been active and healthy having problems. I don't care how old they are, its never easy. Perhaps mom's coughing is something they can take care of with meds. Don't know till docs discuss it, right? Try not to worry about the "what-ifs", keep positive, and enjoy mom being in your life today. She sure sounds like a gem! We're here for you.
Luv, Kis

Thanks to all for their prayers. I have to get ready for work, Mom goes to Dr. today. Am praying that it is nothing, but if it is, that God will help us through whatever comes. And I know He will. Mom will not call me until I get home from work today, so will be trying to focus on happy thoughts to get me through this day.
Just wish I was closer to Mom, Kansas to Ohio is a long way.
Sorry hon didn't see your post. I know how hard it can be to watch your Mom being sick. Will say an extra prayer for her and your family. Remember you really don't know what any of this is yet. So as hard as it can be, try and stay positive. She'll pick up on that, and it can help her. Give her an extra hug for me.
Love and blessings to you my friend.
Live strong, Karilynn

Sweetie my stomach is even in a knot for you and mom. So do not be hard on yourself. I will never forget the day she walked out and told me. My head went blank, my heart was on standstill. We turned into two shell shocked women in a daze.
Please please if you feel like it post today. Monday. prayers for sure.
(((Becky)))(((MOM))) I will keep You both in my Prayers to HP/God for strength and guidance through this trying time. Take care of You too. You're a "Wonderful Loving Daughter"(((BIGHUG)))
