ODAT in alanon, Monday, 5/30, words that stick in my brain

This writer comments that sometimes in an alanon meeting,  a casual comment or phrase can get stuck in your consciousness and takes hold.  It comes to mind over and over again as it gives you a new way of looking at things.  It can be a commonplace phrase or even a worn-out cliche, that springs into life and becomes an amazing tool in understanding the alanon program.

I enjoyed this reading as it describes my experience in this program.  My first sponsor gave me several gems:

-humility=quietness of heart

-compare=despair

-always carry a QTIP (quit taking it personally)

A few other sayings from members of MIP have also stuck in my head:

-I resigned from the Door Mat club

-EGO=easing God out

-Bless them, change me

I'm sure there are many others that add to my healing.  Perhaps some of you have favorites.  I would love to hear them.  :)

Good Morning Lyne. Thank you for your service and all shares. Last week, a member stated: "I'm using the program tools to stay focused, stay in the moment, do the next right thing and put out the brightest burning fire first." That share coupled with other threads brought me back into sanity/reality. By Keep(ing) coming back, I find spiritual solutions that never fail to ground me and bring me back to serenity. Today I slowed down, took care of my responsibilities, and found an IN PERSON meeting on Saturday mornings just 10 minutes walking distance from my home. Hooray! I am in serious need of attitude adjustments...MIP members' service with the dailies/shares helps in the gratitude department. Thank you .

Great topic, all good ideas above...I really like the idea of a portable, compact go-to that resets my spiritual equilibrium. It took a while in the program, but this one works for me in many settings, 'Thy will, not mine'...fast, efficient, powerful.
