Hope for Today Apr 10

Good morning everyone-

Todays reading is a focus on how our own participation is what contributes to the motion of recovery. The feeling of miracles happening in the program comes from our willingness to work at recovery, not from a magical source. The writer describes beginning service work in alanon, and how chairing meetings, greeting newcomers and answering phones all contributed to a connectedness in the program and recovery within. Concepts of service, specifically concept four, is referenced: participation is the key to harmony.  As the writer discovered, the biggest gift of service work is help for the one who serves.  The strength of progress is summarized in the last sentence: giving the program away is an affirmation that I have some program to give.

I feel grateful that I began writing here a few years ago.  Reading, reflecting and sharing any personal connections I might have is a way for me to learn more about how to continue with my own recovery. I hope there are times that what is written here resonates with others. There is a quotation from Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual (p.19) that describes this more succinctly than I can: Al-Anon believes that our benefits are measured by our willingness to share them with others. For we know we can never give as much as we receive.

I hope everyone enjoys a peaceful Sunday:)

Mary

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday as well Mary and thank you for your service and ESH.

I believe that service is an integral part of Al-Anon and am very grateful for the benefits

and friendships.

Coming to this late, but I for one, am very grateful for the service of all who post provides!

I especially find solace in your shares, Mary! So Thank You!

In The Before Times, I helped set up the room & I have been the Saturday poster here. Now my schedule is so crazy that I cannot commit. But I value & appreciate those who do!

Yesterday was less than 100 degrees, finally! So thankful for that! (Imagine, 100 degrees in April!!) I am not ready for this heat. I am also getting a security screen door installed, so I am super stoked about putting an end to not feeling secure at night!

Hope everyone has a peaceful week!

&
