Today's writer shares that they are aware of miracles happening in their life -- and it is gratitude that makes it possible to see those miracles. Being guided to Al-Anon when they felt hopeless was a miracle, and they found healing among people who had been in the same situation. Anything from having a snooze button on the alarm clock, to having a place to live, to being able to give and receive love, the little and the big things, are reasons for gratitude.
Today's Reminder: When I take time for gratitude, I perceive a better world. Today I will appreciate the miracles all around me.
Quote from In All Our Affairs: "Even the darkest of moments can be faced with a grateful heart, if not for the crisis itself, at least for the growth it can evoke with the help of our Higher Power."
-------
I feel the same as today's author -- so grateful for all the good things in my life today, both big and small.
I like today's quote, because although I cannot honestly say I am grateful for the crises I experienced, I am grateful that I came through them an improved person rather than a broken person. This improvement only happened through the miracles of Al-Anon: understanding, fellowship, simple tools for complicated times, the support of others that I had just met, and of some that I had known for years. The gifts of wisdom and support I received are miracles, and I have to give myself credit for putting myself in the places where I could receive them. Desperation got me to the door, and then miracle-workers helped me through -- because I listened to them and followed their suggestions. I came out stronger because I did not go through it alone, and I know that I never again have to go through a crisis alone.
I heard a program speaker say, "God loves legwork." Apparently that's true, because when I have done the legwork in my program, I have been rewarded.
MIP friends, what is your experience with miracles, or gratitude?
Thanks FT for your service and ESH. I believe gratitude is one of the key ingredients of life that allows us to enjoy it or feel defeated. This program has taught me to be grateful even when the chips are down. Whatever is going on around me, my dog brings me to joy many times a day. I do believe that some miracles have been bestowed upon me. I see HP all around me. Program itself is a miracle to me, because literally it has changed my life. It has given me tools and skills for living that my parents and many therapists could not. Attitude and acceptance come to mind as well. And all of you --thank you so much. You are helping me along this journey.
