Courage to Change September 8

In today's reading, the author asks about anything that might be standing in the way of trusting our Higher Power.

In the author's case, it was a desire for a guarantee. The author resisted turning their will and life to their HP because they felt that if they held out, they would themselves come up with a new and better solution to their problem, even though they had tried and failed at that in the past. Turning over problems to a HP meant a loss of control, and that loss of control was a challenge for the author. The author realized that if they continued to do what they had always done, they would get what they had always gotten. Since the author wanted the benefits of the program, they needed to take the risk, give up control, and trust their Higher Power. There is no guarantee that faith and trusting HP will bring the desired results, but building a strong relationship with HP can help us become strong, confident, and capable of dealing with whatever comes.

Today's Reminder: Today I will make a contribution to my spiritual development. I will try to identify the obstacles that block my faith.

Today's Quote: "Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand that thou mayest believe, but believe that thou mayest understand." Aurelius Augustinus

------------------------------

Today's reading is one that speaks to me quite loudly. I am reminded that I can sit with a challenge instead of jumping to fixing, and that I can trust my HP that things will work out as they should, in accordance with HP's plans, even if they differ from my plans.  Things have been especially challenging at home lately, and checking my internal compass and trusting my HP to direct me are important reminders for me today.

Thanks Skorpi for your service, today's reading and ESH.

I did not know that I could literally ask HP to take my issues and walk away!!

I thought asking/praying for guidance was the only way. When I discovered that

I could take an issue and just visually hand it to HP it was an amazing feeling!!

I do not do it often, but it usually happens when AH is at his worst and it is best

to hand it to HP and walk away because at that point it doesn't matter what the

outcome is, HP will figure it out. Grateful Al-Anon/MIP member.

Wow, looking back on my day, did I ever need this topic today!!!!!!!!!! My afternoon and evening has been full of times to trust HP, of experience handing problems over, and trusting that things will work out. I'm still in that space now, but everyone seems to be home for the night and just for tonight, I trust that we will all stay safe at home. And, I trust that tomorrow, I will have the strength to deal with whatever comes my way.

Thank you Skorpi for your service/ESH and all the shares. It gave me the opportunity to examine the barriers that keep me from trusting my HP in every area of my life. I am inconsistent in staying true to activities that strengthen my bond with HP. I must read CAL, pray, cultivate relationships with spiritual people, and step outside my comfort zone, challenge my beliefs, follow the 12 step process on a daily basis. Also, I must be mindful of what I think about and what I expose myself to. I took the time to create a list which I can add to. Finally, I must invite HP before taking any action. I basically have fallen into a rigid routine of acknowledging my HP in morning/night prayers and running the show in between. Experience has taught me that when I make a conscious effort to be guided by HP, my enemies like fear and resentment can't block my trust in my HP.

(((Skorpi))) - thank you for your service and the daily. I find it one of those 'miracles in progress' when the daily reading resonates with real life in such a way that it really does feel divinely inspired. For me, the biggest obstacle between myself and my HP is fear - mostly fear of not getting my way (wants). Fear is general, for me, is the number one choice that blocks me from the sunlight of the spirit.

The only way I know to let go of my fear and turn it all over is faith. There are moments and days where this feels like a full-time conscious effort during all my waking hours. It's kind of like a chicken/egg thing - yet I know from experience that no matter how strong my fear is, HP and faith are the true ticket to a different place.
