Courage to Change 7/24

Good morning MIP.  Today's reading is Step 11 - Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. The author clarifies that doing God's will doesn't mean performing heroic acts on a daily basis.  It simply means that doing the next right thing - smelling a rose, emptying trash, washing the car, etc. - might be exactly what's needed.

Everyone has a Higher Power who loves unconditionally.  When we learn to love self unconditionally, we are doing God's will.

Reminder:  What loving action can I take today?  Maybe I will make some time for nothing more practical than simple pleasure - a movie, a good book, or a breath of fresh air.  Or perhaps I'll deal with paper work that I've been avoiding.  I could make a commitment to eat well and get the rest I need or make amends for something that's been on my mind.  A simple gesture can be the beginning of a lifelong habit of self-love.

Quote:  "God alone knows the secret plan Of the things he will do for the world Using my hand." ~~ Toyohiko Kagawa

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I do practice prayer and meditation daily as suggested in our program.  I do trust in the Higher Power concept, a master plan, miracles and divine interventions.  I trust that my HP truly wants me to be happy, joyous and free and to learn to love and live unconditionally in service.  I don't always know what God's will is for me yet I do know (process of elimination) what it is not.
I am better today in practicing self-love, self-care and blind faith.  I am more comfortable in my own skin than ever before.  I am better today at accepting others as they are, where they are.  I am forever grateful that this program encouraged me to grow in a spiritual way and to love and accept myself as I am, perfectly imperfect.
It's Day 2 of excessive heat/heat wave here....I'm taking a 'me day' and looking forward to it.  Make it a great day all - (((Hugs)))!
Thanks IAH for your service and share. A meditation I listen to on a phone app says to be kind to everyone you meet. I think that's Step 11. Just the simple act of being kind to others, and to ourselves, I believe is God's will. We are not asked to be Superman/Superwoman. I try to live my life treating others the way I want to be treated. I think that's also Step 11. When some jerk on the highway is driving unsafely, I may say something under my breath that is not so nice, but then I wish that person a safe day. Thanks to program, I am becoming a better me.
Thank you IAM for your service, today's reading and to you and Lyne for both your ESH.
I too practice daily meditation and prayer before my feet hit the floor in the morning. Al-Anon has
taught me that my connection to my HP is pretty darn important because staying focused on today
and listening/watching for HP guidance has made, for me, a more confident person out of me.
I have less fear and anxiety and like you IAH, more faith and like you Lyne, I feel that I am a better
me. {{HUGS}}
Good Morning MIP. Thank you for the Service Iamhere and the shares of yours and DMs.
Today my next right things were pretty simple: have a shower, and pull out my work files. My work files have been bothering me for a few weeks. Today I needed to firmly but lovingly state my boundaries to get the time needed to do that work. Now I need the discipline to finish them off. I know the reward of completion will give me a warm glow for the weekend and help to clear the anxious energy that it is fencing at me and threatening to make me feel stuck.
Have a great weekend!
IAH. Thank you for your service on your post
I struggled with the God thing because I have several reasons I wont go into here but the bottom line is of my understanding. Had Ive been pushed to a particular religion or belief in Al-Anon, I would have walked out. But I was given the freedom to choose a HP of my understanding. I dont know if theres a plan for me or whatever but I think the more I can connect with what my HP wants for me and what I want for me and focus on that, the more the universe can bless me with the things that I want and not bring to me the things that I dont want because what I put out into the universe comes back to me. So I try to put out kindness and justice and honesty and openness and willingness. And I put out the kind of energies that I want to come back to me and it seems to be helping. But I found freedom in this program because it didnt say what God or what higher power it just said a God of my understanding and I was able to embrace that and so I have a higher power right now of my understanding and I am connecting more and more to it and it is within me
Dear I am here
Thank you for the share
This pandemic is causing even more problems. Where I work everyone is coming down with the variant
It is so contagious. Neither does it seem to matter whether someone is vaccinated or not. I have a day off which is currently swallowed up .with a job interview.
My current job is in chaos because one particular supervisor didn't stay home when she was sick. She is fully aware she has the variant. She came to work coughing and spluttering and gave it to everyone
Now people are calling off left and right
In the past when I had to deal with people who.caused chaos I
would be overwhelmed. Now that my recovery is #sturdy# Incan be detached. I can recognize what is my responsibility. What isn't my responsibility
I am so glad to be away from that nettle of feeling responsible for the whole world
What s relief
What a gift.
What a tidal wave transformation
I am also of course aware that some people just know how to cause chaos.   My supervisor is one of them
So that means looking at the big picture. Thst picture is of course that I have responsibility to lead the best life I can out together for myself
I have already had my fill of obnoxiousness
Obnoxious people who are really just chaos machines
If the manager wants a chaos machine (there are certainly others who can do his job) there is not much I can do about it except get out of the way
It such an incredible relief to have a different attitude about people who.cause chaos. First to not be drawn in. Second not to feel un any way responsible. Third to be happy that Inhave optoons. If this job interview does not work out others will
Whoopie!
Maresie
