In todays reading the writer remembers hearing about the twelve steps being broken into four categories: steps 1-3 about giving up (admitting powerlessness), steps 4-6 about owning up (accountability), 7-9 about making up (amends) and 10-12 about keeping up (working at personal recovery). The writer adds that when recovery feels overwhelming, its really four things that we are doing: giving up, owning up, making up and keeping up. The thought for the day reminds us that sometimes the It in Keep It Simple may be the program itself.
I appreciate this page and hadnt thought about the steps in this way before. For me, having clear steps, our slogans, simple statements are all ways to work the program in a way that feels accessible. I remember the first time I thought about making amends to people in my life I saw a list of names and just wanted to check them off. I definitely hadnt considered the process and what it entailed. Thinking of the steps broken into 4 concepts like this helps to make it all more tangible and realistic for me.
I hope everyone has a peaceful Sunday and can keep it simple today :)
Good morning Mary and thank you for your service and the daily! Happy Sunday to you and all - it's gray & rainy here - lovely day for inside activities & some comfort food!!
All I know is that when I do as suggested in this program of recovery, my life and all things just feel easier. I was one who could complicate all things or anything prior to recovery. I assumed all folks had a hidden agenda, the world was stacked against me, and a whole variety of other quite insane/negative ideas.
The steps and all the tools of this program provide me with a road-map for success as I navigate life, one day at a time. All I truly have to do is set aside my ego, practice humility, remain open, and do the next right thing for my life/day. I am most serene when I am aligned in the present, with the program steps & tools as well as my HP in my pocket.
Love and light all - make it a great day!!

Thank you Mary for your service! I hope that today finds you 'keeping it simple.'
I love the ESH above (thank you Iamhere and Debb).
I am finding (especially during this pandemic), that if I work on Keeping things simple, I can handle the stresses better. I don't feel so overwhelmed with my emotions. Which is good, b/c for me, feeling overwhelmed leads to inaction... and sometimes action is needed!
Happy PI Day y'all!!
