Living on a small island is like living in a small town only you can't drive to a city. That latter difference can contribute a lot to island fever, where basically if you're not careful you can turn into a permanently snippy version of your fine self. I am suffering a little island fever. The collective conversation is a hotbed of details which change only in names and faces and I'm so over it. I'm over the status quo. I needed to express that. Thank you for listening. Thank God for the internet.
I live way out in the country and feel so isolated and alone much of the time. Throw bad weather and a pandemic in the mix and it feels a bit unbearable at times.
I miss being around people. I miss going places and doing things.
I thank you for your share A41 and honesty. I grew up in a 'smaller town' and boy howdy - the gossip and busy-bodies were interesting. You are correct that we could go for a drive and change things up a bit - on an island, not possible. I can admit that between the pandemic & the winter season, I can get wrapped up in 'cabin fever' and definitely have to work a bit harder for my outlook & attitude. I'm so, so lucky that where we are, our winter has been milder than usual and even though there are many restrictions for the virus, golf is an approved activity. So, I made it out yesterday and today for a round of golf - nature and 'doing' help me greatly with my inner thoughts and cabin fever.
I also am very grateful for the internet. When I hear/see others complaining about the virus, the restrictions, etc. my mind goes to the pandemic of 1918 - those people didn't even have electricity, running water, bathrooms, libraries, etc. We've got it easy compared to what they faced and they handled it better!!!
Hang in there all - the good thing about life - this too shall pass. (((Hugs)))
