Heart Cry

I used to dabble with poetry .... haven't written in a long while ... it was my outlet back then, a way to express all that I felt.  Always meant to do something with my writing...but never have (despite encouragement from friends and teachers).  I watch my daughter now doing as I did... pouring her feelings out in poems (and my word, the ones I've read are awesome!)  She wants to read my collection... I haven't allowed her to yet as there are some too graphic/mature for her age, gotta sort thru them and put those one's aside.  Anyway, I was looking at them today and came upon one that I wrote towards the end of my writing period.  It made me think of our sharing here...the give and take.  Love you all.

"Heart Cry" (8/14/1998 by Susan L.)

Who are you Stranger?
Tell me what's wrong
Sit and talk a while
I've a heart you can lean on
Tell me your troubles
And I'll care
I'll share what I've learned
On this path they call life
I'll give you an encouraging word
And the shirt off my back
I'll do what I can
Simply 'cause I care
I'll give you strength
I'll give you my faith
I'll help you believe
That dawn will break...

See me Stranger
The one you're leaning on
As you speak and weep
Do you hear my heart tear?
Do you see the pieces
You're taking from me?
I'm nodding and smiling
That gentle, sad look.
Have you any idea what I'm giving,
What you're taking from me?
Oh see me please Stranger
Tell me that dawn will break...

Wonderful Kis,

Makes me want to ask, why did you stop, but then I'll have to focus on myself and as myself the same question.......... so I won't go there.  hahaha ;)

What a beautiful poem.  I too have dabbled in writing poetry.  It is a great outlet.  Even gave my Mom a booklet of them I put together as a gift.  If I can find any of them now maybe I will share one or two with you.

Thanks kis

There is such pride in finishing such a beautiful piece. I could feel your words right through me. I felt some sadness in it as well - from that taking heart that doesn't yet understand the burden that is shared sometimes. How deeply we feel the pain of others.

I would love to get a group of people together to write some poetry if you are interested? There are so many talented writers here at MIP and so many wonderful people who speak their heart. That is all it takes - a giving heart to write.

(((Kis)))),

I am so touched by this.  I feel a sad kind of comfort reading it.  Thanks for sharing it.  I also like to write since I've been in Alanon, but have been sooooo afraid to share it.  I guess I am afraid of being vulnerable and hurt.  Creative writing for me is cathartic.  It is to me a gift I feel I am just receiving being in program - kinda cool.  Thanks for your courage to share.

Love ya,

Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem Kis. I do love the expression of poetry, as i comes through us, and as for keeping it up, do that. For yourself, its a gift to you first, when you're done, yes?

This poem moved me deeply, it was a gift to me, too.

thanks

mac
