I did something interesting on this site tonight. I went down to the bottom of the message board and lclicked on the started by feature. I reread all of the posts that I had started during my time on this board. It was actually pretty interesting. Reviewing all the positives I have accomplished. Some of my posts at the time were painful but I got through them. Some were happy events etc. While doing so I realized that over the course of these posts I have grown. I have found that things I didnt think I could handle, I did. Situations that I thought were hopeless were not. Wishes I had then are not the wishes I have now.
I thought this was an interesting way to check in with myself. I have a long way to go yet - but in reviewing these posts I see just how far I have come.

Good for you Alamom, to confirm that you are progressing. Journalling has the same affect, and is also a very good way of becoming part of the healing process. I know for myself somedays I feel as if I have not learned a thing from attending Alanon meetings for all these years, however things like this "posting", journalling, or even when a new comer arrives I can see that I have truly moved forward in my recovery. It is not an easy or "quick" process, but slow and sometimes teadious. Repition works for me, with my strong will and convictions, finally somethings from this program eventually gets pounded into my head! Keep up the good work!
(((((((karen))))))))) your experience is almost like the experience a god box can offer! Often times, what we put in there, with hp's power, with time and with recovery have just disappeared or taken care of themselves.
