The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
This was asked in a previous post. Again referring to the Alcoholism the Family Disease pamphlet (P-4) p. 24 "...Our leaders are chosen not to govern, but to serve. No member of Al-Anon should direct, assume authority or give advice. Our program is based on suggestion, interchange of experience, rotation of leadership... Any attempt to manage or direct is likely to have disastrous consequences for group harmony."
The key thing to remember is that we all are equal in Al-Anon. The newcomer has as much a say as the oldtimer. In business meetings each member is listened to with equal respect. When deciding on group matters, it is the majority vote which decides an issue. One person cannot and should not decide how a group is to be run...that is not how Al-Anon works. Our 12 Traditions give us the guidelines for how our groups run.
Thanks for asking!
Luv, Kis
