I am checking in from the public library. I got angry last weekend and threw my laptop. I ended up braking the screen and had to send it to Gateway for repairs. It should be back in 7-10 days. I am fine. Sorry for worrying everyone. Been going to f2f meetings every day. Really working the program ans have a sponsor. I am attending NA on a daily basis because a few people pointed out that I may have a problem with pills and taking them to cope with stress...It hard getting off of them, but i am committed. I still feel irritable, but getting better. Will get in touch as soon as computer comes back.
Proud of you for going to NA. I hope the irritability goes away soon and you can feel better! I know about the desire to throw things! Josey is right a dish would be cheaper--maybe we should all go buy some plates from the dollar store and just throw until our hearts are content!
Glad you are doing o.k. Sounds like you are working your program hard! Keep taking care of you!
Hi Powerless! I work at a public library, and get to help people, many of whom are undoubtedly feeling the same frustrations and helplessness you express! Sorry to hear about your laptop--and I'm sure folks are right in telling you that a dish would be chaeper. We have wireless access where I work, too--as do many libraries now.
A laptop is a useful tool, but don't break your heart over that! What really matters is how well YOU are taking care of YOU!
Good for you for working the NA progam! It's tough, in the early stages of recovery, but stick with it! It's so worth your while! My second oldest son (not the one I mentioned in a reply to rtexas) has been clean for some years now, working the NA program, and he now counsels youths who are in trouble with drugs and messed up home situations. It's amazing how much you'll find to give others, once you give this gift of recovery to yourself!
Don't feel bad about toasting the computer... I write software, and believe me I have smashed a few keyboards (key's popping off and flying all over the office) and I had much less to be upset about that you did.
It's amazing how this program can open your mind to the possibility that you could need assistance with another issue. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone (A or not) would give Al-Anon (...life...) principals a serious try?
Take good care of you, you are worth it!
