Lately Sauvey (my Great Pyrenees) has been going nuts barking at day break. There are white tailed deer going thru here. They are so beautiful and healthy. Not concerned about this barking beast of mine. I watch them run by not 50 feet from my bedroom sliding glass door. They go thru the pasture then so easily hop over two fences.
Well this morn he went nuts earlier...gads. I stumbled to look out. ? I thought it was someones llama or a cow or horse. I got my eyes sort of adjusted, it is an elk! omg I have never seen one this close, and by my home! Ran and got my binoculars, wow it was a young bull. All of a sudden I see this orange flash run to his face and run off. He jumped back then put his head down and acted like, "what the heck was that?" lol Sparky, my ginger boy went after his nozzle!
He was big as a horse, had a very light colored swirled circle on his butt, his body was a light chocolate brown. He had a neck that under it was sorta long hair like a beard. He had two nubs on his head.
I watched him saunter around until the sun came up and he started back up the mountain, Then here comes a white flash and Chief is running over to the fence, nostrils flared and blowing the warning call. His tail was up his stride was so beautiful. I tell you, up close he is a big ole muddy horse. But omg he looked like a white horse with wings ready to take off.
Just blew me away, the beauty of him.
What a morning! Now everything is back to normal. I am wide awake and the dogs are fast asleep.
love, debilyn who feels very rich and humbled today
Thankyou so much for describing such an idyllic scene. I am glad that you get to have such a rich nuanced life and enjoy it all. I think it says a lot about your program that you can detach from the A and enjoy your life regardless.
