God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change:
AHs:
*Sitting in front of the TV all day with little to no motivation for much else
*Frequent and lengthy naps
*Decreased ability to connect the dots or simple problem solving
*Refusing to wear his hearing aids which means shouting to converse and the TV at very loud volume
*No follow through on things he says he will accomplish and/or procrastination on EVERYTHING (except running out for beer)
Grant me the serenity to accept that when he says he is going to do something, there is a 98% probability it wont happen.
Grant me the serenity to feel compassion as he is presently sitting asleep in his chair with his winter coat on b/c he fell asleep before supposedly going to bring the garbage totes to the curb.
Grant me the serentity to continue with my own activities with gratitude.
(((El))) - I so hear you ... you are not alone in your surrender nor your prayer!

Dear ((((((E)))))) thank you for this really open and honest share...So sad, what they do...its like tossing a rock into a pond, and all the ripples that eddy out from that one "pinpoint" of sickness adn negativity, the lives they impact....Sounds to me like you are taking care of you and having no expectations of him holding up his end....I'm glad you are here...You are NOT alone...
(((El))), I hear my own story from the past in yours. I have been there. This is really tough, but you are not alone. I love how you are using the Serenity prayer.
