Pinch hitting today for IAH...Today's Courage to Change reading refers to one of the two stories told by man: Hero goes on a journey, overcoming great challenges on the way to claiming treasure or something of great value.
Our recovery path in AlAnon often follows this story along spiritual lines as we draw from the wisdom of the program through the Steps, principles, and the guidance of a Higher Power to overcome obstacles in our path. With willingness and practice we are better able to steer clear of serenity robbers, spending more and more time in a better way of living that truly is a treasure.
Reminder: The Steps provide what is needed to handle whatever we encounter on our journey towards the treasure of personal freedom.
"The world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles...only by a spiritual journey...by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home." - Wendell Berry ****************************
In the moment, sometimes the challenges seem insurmountable and the journey too long. When I get that feeling, it is helpful for me to take a moment to consider my journey: how far I've come, how many more and better tools I have found from working the steps, and how much more treasured serenity I experience now than when I arrived.
If I remain teachable and willing to work for it, AlAnon provides all I need...I am very grateful

Hi Paul Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this powerful principle. Being on a Spiritual Journey, with the help of a Higher Power is enriching and thought provoking .
Showing up with the help of a Higher Power is a huge step (step11). and since entering program I have lived my life, one day at a time, trusting HP , the gifts I experienced are huge.
Love the following quote
Reminder: The Steps provide what is needed to handle whatever we encounter on our journey towards the treasure of personal freedom.
"The world cannot be discovered by a journey of miles...only by a spiritual journey...by which we arrive at the ground at our feet, and learn to be at home." - Wendell Berry
Thanks for your service and it was great to read your thoughts today
Your ESH on the topic hit home for me today! "IF I remain teachable..."
Grateful.

Thank you Paul. I find if I am in one of the unteachable modes........it is totally self will run riot! I pray I remain teachable and not stop by to visit the unteachable times at all! Today is a great day thanks to my HP and this program!
Thanks for your service Paul and all above shares. This is a truly wonderful and inspiring topic. Lately I am not able to hold onto my serenity, and I think I need to lean more heavily on my tools. I have just said the Serenity Prayer and thought of a gratitude with my sponsor. I hope to stay teachable, always, ODAT, Lyne
Thank you Paul for your service, covering for me, the daily and your ESH!! Thanks to all for your ESH. This short week and I are not getting along well so I am short on time - unintentionally over-committed. All I truly know if when I am irritable, restless or discontent, the best answers for me are in this spiritual program, the steps and recovery. It has never, ever failed me when I keep an open mind, open heart and remain teachable (humble).
So grateful for all of you - I am out the door for softball in a few - hope everyone's day has been awesome!

Great comments above as they all reflect parts of the journey I can relate to, thanks all for sharing. I love the hero journey analogy as it reflects the ups and downs I feel at times...that's how life can be, but with the program and a higher power, I have not to go it alone.
Grateful for the opportunity, IAH, thank you for your ESH, hope things even out for you and the diamond delivered a needed respite
