Why is my ex ringing me because they’ve relapsed

I havent had any contact with them for 2 months. During that time theyâve not had a drink and now this week Iâve been drunk dialled. Telling me all about their problems and that they need me In their life they miss me. I said ring me sober and out the phone down. What do I make of this? Do you think their being honest - or are they look sympathy ?

I personally think you have received a drunk phone call and are reading way to much into it. They may get sober and not even remember calling. I find it more interesting that you are concerned about what they are doing or thinking vs why YOU are responding the way you are. How are your meetings going?? Hugs .. keep coming back. S ;)

Alcohol causes people to detach from consequences.  So if you had a bad time with your A and you left because of it, when he gets drunk all that flies out the window for him and he thinks, "Hey, give me some of what I want!  I'll try again, what the heck!"  Basically it's insanity.

But you have sanity in your arsenal.  Keep on taking good care of yourself.

Carly - so sorry that you're again affected. Thank you for bringing your share here - these kinds of 'life events' help remind me why I need to stay active in my recovery and focused on self.....I too would recommend you just keep putting you first and lean into your recovery. (((Hugs)))
