He called last evening

and wanted to talk.  The he is my alcoholic/addict eldest son and I said sure come over because he was going to speak about his progressive awareness of his disease.  I'll entertain that and I am honored that he will come visit and can be made to listen.  We still have that part of the relationship going on.  He has the respect to call first and he has personality.  As I expected it was going to be a good evening and it was.  Just imagine and Dad and Son who rarely converse conversing.

I tried some program ESH out for him without telling him where the magic came from...magic if he gives it a try that is.  His biggest complaint basically is that his life sucks. (If you sit  quietly with him you can actually hear the sucking sound) so I listened to a couple complaints sometimes responding as I was taught, "So what are you going to do about that"?? and then listened to the voice of my former sponsor and HP coach me.  He's traveling to far to go to work and then work is great and he is paid great and he doesn't like being out of town away from his own bed and the young guys he works with are BAWH!! and he left all his drinking and using friends including his girl friend who though he was a looser (hmmmm interesting) and he can get better with exercise and diet and body toning and that kinda stuffs.  I responded with program and my experience with recovery and program relationships...He listened; we will see still how far forward this goes.

He basically has thought that he was superior to me from birth.  I understand that mentality and believe it is mutual DNA.  So the meeting came to an end...he looked really tired...time to go and then another surprise.  He left leaving a cultural, spiritual behavior.  He hugged me and demonstrated the exchange of spirit that we do here and at first I wasn't aware and then participated fully.  I like how the evening went...sober, spiritual and sane...Mahalo Akua...Thank you God.    And thank you MIP as you help keep my spirit and behavior in order and sanity.   YAY again.  (((((hugs))))) wink

Jerry, what a positive post! I could actually "hear" the smile on your face as I read this! It was a bright light to my day. Thank you... I am glad you were able to use your program in a way that made you feel good, and perhaps maybe influence your son... only time will tell, huh?

Namaste!

(((Jerry))) thank you for the lovely share, just what I needed today. I appreciate your wisdom and glad you're here. I too was taught to respond with "so what are you going to do about it?" early in my recovery to deflect the pressure I felt to jump in and save my A's and it has been a true blessing for my serenity.

Beautiful hearted Jerry - I get a sense of the safe space you and your HP/ancestors made for that connection. (((((((Jerry)))))))

Thanks ((jerry))) for sharing your evening with your son. Thanks also for the wonderful examples of recovery in action - humility, acceptance, grace and gratitude. Sounds like the evening was a gift to cherish from your hp. TT
