ODAT Reading 8-20-2017

The ODAT reading for August 20 speaks about our tendency to keep the focus on others.   It suggests that we do this because we believe we are always right, and  want to fight for wha t"WE believe " is the right way and that others should  do and believe what we believe.
The reading suggests that we are not in control or in charge of what others do or  believe.  We need to examine our  motives  and allow others  the right to their own opinions and  beliefs.  .
It is stressed that  we keep the focus on ourselves, examine our motives so we can correct our faulty attitudes.
There is a powerful prayer included  that  says":" teach me to think straight and not to take offense at criticism which is meant as loving guidance."
Great reminder when confiding with  a sponsor   have a great Sunday

Thanks for the great perspective for keeping the focus on myself.

Good morning Betty and bud - thank you for your shares.....I also thank you for your service and the daily Betty. I find it quite frustrating that when 'life' happens, my initial thought is, "I didn't do anything to deserve this" or "Why are you picking on me?" If I want to maintain my serenity, I really need to change my thinking, and for me - that's where the program and tools come in.

I am able to switch things up, sometimes quickly and sometimes slowly. Yet, I can turn my thinking around and look for my part, focus on me and my recovery and allow others the dignity to be who they are. So much easier said than done at times yet always possible.

Make it a great day - off to a meeting and possibly some softball this afternoon - we got some rain in the forecast so.... (((Hugs))) to all!
