information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
Seems to me recovery is at times too much soul-searching, can be too depressing. Id like to just walk away and focus instead on the happy exciting feelings coming my way next week (going to Disney World).
As they say at Mickey's House "Dare to do what dreamers do" "Make a wish, dream a dream and your wish will come true"
Did you ever just want to take a break from it all and run away? I am sooo ready to leave the state! I need some relaxation time. Im thinking I may take Courage to Change and read on Happiness - all the feel good subjects
I think the slogan "Easy Does It" comes to find. I find myself wanting to rush into this program, work it like a college course and get myself back out of it after I learned it all. Maybe its time to slow down, relax (now thats a word I need to work on!).
Im going to the AlAnon conference on the Cape less than a wk after vacation so Im sure to get back into "program"
If recovery means anything to us, it's about taking care of ourselves, and sometimes that means taking a break. I've stayed away for a few days just to regroup, and that's okay. Sometimes too much thinking can drive me crazy, and I don't need any extra help in that! lol But you also have to be careful not to get too far out from your program. My A does that, and that's a sure sign there's a possiblility of relapse. Like him, I can "relapse too".
So go ahead and take a breather if you feel you need it. Play in the sun, do something good for yourself. You'll find yourself refreshed and ready to go at it again.
Live strong, Karilynn

It's your life. Take no prisoners. You will have it your way.
We all need to take a step back sometimes. Soul searching takes work and can be tiring. There are many ways to work a program, but the number one thing is to take care of you. I can't think of a better place to do that than the "Happiest place in the world."
Enjoy your vacation. Soak up the sun, be a kid, wear mouse ears, take lots of pictures and ride the rides. Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed. Don't ever think you need to second guess making dreams come true. The person you are working this program for is you.
Have a wonderful vacation, and a much needed rest! I am fairly new (attended alanon years ago, but once got rib of A hubby, got rid of alanon too. Didn't realize then that it is for ME~)
For now, I am married to another A. We are having major difficulties with our relationship, but I have finally realized that I need alanon for the rest of my life.
But, I agree that letting go sometimes and taking a break is also healthy. Sometimes I feel like my mind just cannot absorb any more info, so I will take a break from the chatroom, from reading literature, etc. Once my mind and body have rested, I am ready again to learn. If I find myself feeling badly, I know I can chat, read, pray at any time, it doesn't have to be for hours and hours on end. God is always on call for us, even for just a few minutes now and then.
Enjoy yourself. That is also a part of your recovery!
