Working the Steps?

Hello, all,
I thank you all for being here. At the same time, I have a question to ask of all of us on this forum.
I know, from my years in Alanon, that true recovery happens when we work the steps with a sponsor. The Steps are a miracle, because our HP helps us to work them, and actually does the work, in my experience! I have learned in Alanon to talk to a sponsor about the really bad situations I am in, to tell those to the trusted person who has agreed to sponsor me.
What I find most here on the forum seems to be tales of what is happening in the relationship with the alcoholic. It is important to get those things out, to break the isolation with a trusted person. But that is not Program to me. Program is the sharing of our ESH, and the working of the steps.
Has anyone found another forum online where more program is shared? I'd be interested in your responses.
I continue to be grateful to all of you for being part of the worldwide fellowship of Alanon.
Blessings,
mebjk

mebjk....

I totally get what you are trying to say.  However I find much ESH in the responses of members to these posts you say are not program.  Also many members post daily readings and quotes from books they are working on in their own journey of recovery.  I feel I get what I give and more.  Maybe you could try posting the program you want to read here?

Yours in recovery...

i completly agree with what your saying mebjk.  I too believe in the power of the steps and had the same experience you did with my stepwork too.  In fact, I continue too reap the benifits.  Perhaps what you might like to look at is the Step Work Board, there should be a link for it up there on the left hand side of your screen, in the yellow box.  In the middle box up there it says that this message board here is a method of exchanging information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal level and is not cal lit.  Some have more solutions here, some are newer and need people like you who can share their experience strenght and hope to help us solve our common problem.  Sure would love to read some of yours here.

love ya, Trina

For me the steps start working me after a while.  I find the steps in every area of my life at some point. I do think there is program here in getting to know people very very well and their lives and their struggles. I find this board very intimate.  I have found that step work with a sponsor helps and I do that but my sponsor is understandably not available 23/7 and this board is.

I understand what you are saying.  As someone who is still learning, this board is invaluable.  Everyday that I read posts I can see how the program is working for each individual.  YEs, we discuss our relationships with our As.  I know I post about mine, but the responses are others telling me to put the focus back on myself and how to work my program.
