Bought the wrong book

I went to Barnes and Noble today to buy Courage to Change, but when I came home I realized I bought the wrong one.  I'm going to read it anyway.  I bought two other recovery books, but am not sure if I can say what they are.  One is a daily meditation book about the twelve steps.  I just ordered the right book plus Paths to Recovery.  They will be sent out next week.  I am going to start reading.  Today is Friday and he gets paid.  He asked me if I want to ride with him to get his check.  Normally I would jump on that so I can make sure that he makes it home with some money.  Today I realize I can't babysit him.  Besides, I can't stay up all night watching him to make sure he doesn't find the money after I put it up and leave.  I am ready and willing to learn.  I am ready to put his addiction back in his hands.  I am ready to work on myself.  (I have knots in my stomach while writing this).  Remind me of my determination when I waver.

I just got "In All Our Affairs - Making Crisis Work For you" from the Al-Anon website. It's a good read and not expensive.

Hang in there! One day at a time....

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Sounds wonderful!  There are also books here, on the website, for you to choose from!  If anything...you can get a better idea of what kind of choices you have (titles) you want to read before heading off to the bookstore again.  I'm sure the ones you purchased will be a great read. So glad to hear you've take that step.  ((PRAYERS))  Keep Looking uP!   Let Go and Let God.   Keep coming back!!

Keep your eyes open at thrift shops, too - I have almost a complete set of alanon literature that way, and have given my doubles of many books to the counsellour here, so she can give them to people she thinks might benefit from them.
You seldom see the daily readers that way, though - I guess people hang onto them!

Hi Powerless, who knows... maybe you bought exactly the right book. Let us know when you've read it. I found that whatever recovery literature I picked up it was just what I needed at that time, even more uncanny was when it seemed to fall open at just the right page too!!

I'm hoping to find my literature or at least some of it this weekend as it's been misplaced when I moved. I ate, drank, breathed and slept the literature when I 1st went into Al-anon. It certainly helped me to stop obsessing about the alcoholic/focus on my own recovery and gave me healthier things to think about. (In the early days there was only room in my head for one thought at a time!) Thank God things change.

I wish you well, with love in the fellowship

I am seeing so much growth!!  I agree maybe it will be the right book for you and you don't know it yet.

powerless,

Love my books. So helpful. I liked the part where you detached by not going with him. You can just feel the freedom that that gives you.

In support,

Nancy
