Thought for Today ~ Tolerance ~ 10/29/15

"Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" tells me I must first make peace with myself

before I can learn to love others. I must remind myself constantly that I can never know

any other person's motives and conditioning: I must, for my own sake, accept them as

they are. A large ingredient of that acceptance is loving tolerance.

"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke)

"And forgive me for judging and retaliating. Help me to forgive myself: I know this is the first step toward spiritual security."

Have a wonderful day my friends!  smile

Tolerance and an non judgmental attitude are true gifts of this program. Before program  I used gossip and judgment to entain myself and boast my EGO.

Working the alanon Steps helped me to understand how this negative energy was hurting me and taking up my precious life I learned I could be using that energy to learn something different, pray meditate, exercise so my emotional, physical and spiritual health would improve .
Love how these new principles help me

Tolerance for me was/is a learned behavior. I was always in a hurry, always ready for answers and always wanting a solution - NOW.... before the program.

I was not one who believed in 'stopping to smell the flowers', 'glass is half empty/full' or 'you have to love yourself in order to love another' before working the program and the steps. For me, I first had to surrender to the disease and it's affects. I then had to accept that I and all others are imperfect people living in an imperfect world. With acceptance and then learning and applying the program principles, I've gotten much better at being a patient and tolerant person.

I still have my moments. Tolerance and patience for me are learned skills. The more I practice, the more automatic it becomes. I am grateful to this program and MIP for giving me a process and program to be different and to live differently. What a gift!

(((Hugs))) to all and thanks Debb as always for the post and your service!
