Thought for Today ~ Mediate ~ 10/26/15

A period of meditation, everyday, is necessary to spiritual development. I control these "thinking time."

If I meditate on what is good in my life, it will increase day by day and crowd out the self-pity and

resentment over what I lack and what is hurting me. Suddenly I will find myself able to use God's help

in managing my life in order and serenity.

"God has given us the faculties by which we are able to bear what comes to pass without being crushed

or depressed thereby. Why then do we sit and moan and groan, blind to the Giver, making no acknowledgment

to Him, but giving ourselves to complaints?"  ~ (Epictetus)

Happy Monday Everyone!

I love both meditation and gratitude lists. The 11th Step is a powerful weapon in my recovery tool box
Thanks Debbie

Thanks Debb - lovely share for today. It's so funny - as the weather changes, so does my morning routine as I don't like to walk outside until it's a bit warmer. So - that's when I often start my prayer/meditation as my fur-baby and I stroll. I now have to change things up and that's OK - my days mean so much more when I can start with this step and as Betty suggests include gratitude and asset lists.

I am grateful today that Al-Anon has given me a blueprint for a different way to live, think and love. Before this program, I had read over and over again about how little we can love others if we don't love ourselves. I think I believed that in my head, but did not practice it in my heart. Everyone else came first and then with what was left, I would consider myself and my needs. All this did was make me bitter and resentful as nobody else put me first and I could not understand why others did not do as I did and live as I did. Well - processing and program work gave me the wisdom to know that I had it backwards, not them.

So - yes - If I start my day in the right frame of mind through prayer and meditation, my days go so much better. I have a bit of pep in my step and can get through just about anything that pops up on the radar screen. When I begin to stumble, I have the program tools and my sponsor to right my thinking and help me refocus on what is good. I am grateful for that which is good today and give to my HP, God that which is troubling.

Happy Monday and (((hugs))) to all!
