and didn't remember it being as intense. Eye surgery...right eye this time and removal of another cataract. DANG !! weird and total feeling of powerlessness. I like the gayety that comes about with the staff and then the seriousness of the surgery lights out and conversations from faces I cannot picture took me into another realm. The eye is covered now and feeling bruised and I'm sure my vision will be restored tomorrow when the doctor pulls the patch and tape. Then we laser the left eye to remove some defects which are not profound. Weird!! If you're coming up on cataract surgery and want to trade ESH knock on my door. ((((hugs))))
I love compassion and compassion with humor. YARNCRAZY my first surgery went like you describe somewhat and this one was a bit different as same doc changed procedure. It was like a scifi event mostly and its done now. Tomorrow the patch comes off and I start looking like Jerry F again. Gave my wife fits at the hospital with the staff cause I don't take a ton of things very seriously...maybe I should change my procedure cause while the nursing staff was laughing she was holding a serious demeanor. That's all folks. ((hugs))
Oh Jerry - happy, speedy recovery to you! I've not been through that yet, but suspect I too would be tickled by the process. My AH had both done some years back and was amazed at how poor his eyesight was before the surgery. He really didn't realize it until after the procedure. He's a golfer so chose distance lenses so he could 'see the golf ball'......cracked me up!
(((Hugs))) to you for a 'new view' of life and the world when your patch comes off!

My wife and I take our programs with us at all times and I was thinking coming back from the DO's office that the staff love being treated to the program...proof? They treated us first and treated us "in kind" as we were treating them. My wife earlier mentioned to me that it takes patience to be a patient which for now I am storing in my Al-Anon slogan file. My wife has made a list of these professionals who are getting thanksgiving cards and well they should. Its marvelous how our program works even when the addicts and alcoholics are not present huh?
I recommend it for anyone suffering with poor eyesight...kind was wishing they had lenses for poor insight...lol
I chuckled outloud at this - how freakin' true????? I know I'd sign up - even IF it were ELECTIVE!!!
Amen to the taking it every place/every where....before program, I was a bull in a china shop - those poor shop keepers would see me coming a mile away! Now, I have a bit of pep in my step and a smile on my face and walk into all places with the hope of being a pleasant spot in someone's day vs. what can I get out of this.
I was told early on to do things opposite of before. If I was a led-footed driver, my sponsor suggested I drive the speed limit and allow more time. I could give a million examples - it took me a long while to realize that she was teaching me how to be a self-less adult in as many life/living situations as possible. I can still remember preparing for 'something' - store, appointment, meeting, etc. and asking myself, "How would a responsible, normal person handle this?" I needed to be retooled and retrained - so grateful for all of our tools and our program learnings!!

Jerry: I went through a similar experience. I am grateful for the miracle of modern science. Even though the first surgeries were more extreme it was worth it by far. I didn't get cataract surgery but strong vision correction. The last procedures were laser treatment for cataracts. Did you have RLE? Refractive lense exchange or something else?
Kathleen
Woo-hoo Jerry - God is good and congrats. on your improved vision!! (((Hugs)))

You got it Pink...I CAN see like a Hawk!!!...and keep chasing after field mice...what went wrong? LOL I love the restored clarity...smiling for my HP who did a great job with this OD...who I like as a friend also.
We all know your inner vision is 20/20! Glad to hear you're getting your outer vision restored!
I will be disappointed, however, if you do not take advantage of the secondary benefit, which is the world's greatest excuse to dress and talk like a pirate.
